Anti-Hack as a priority.

Got a great new idea for the game?

Should Anti-Hack be a priority?

Yes! I would love to play the game and not see the kill history scrolling one guys name.

No, there are more important things like hellicopters to get to.

Anti-Hack as a priority.

Postby ThisFrickinSite » Mon May 07, 2012 11:57 pm

The server software should come wtih an extra client that it would compare to every other client in the game for files that are loaded and shouldent be there to know if they are hacking. It should only check every 5 minutes becuase im sure that this would cause temporary lag, or maybe just check them individually every so often. This would be best for detecting Aimbots, wallhacks, and other injected hacks. Of course this will do poorly against infinite ammo and health and other simple value changes, but can we start somewhere? When found hacking, they should be either server banned or global blacklisted (host configurable) for a configurable amount of time, but not forever if its global blacklisted as a punishment. Its really pretty sad that i even have to sugest this... I just dont trust that it will be done if it isnt here in the sugestions considering how many times it hasent

Seems like a good worthwhile suggestion, I'm gonna say... Deni- Er, I approve!

Server Admins and Invisible Scripts are the best anti-hacks around.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

Best isnt necessarily good. Generaly they do nothing. Ever since the update, the aimbot stopped shooting more than one bullet and is now undetectible if the hacker can controll their trigger finger a little. You have to admit that this would be a ton better than what we have now.

It is impossible to prevent hacks from happening, communities should focus on having active admins.

There is no reason to add this, and your suggestion simply would not work in the first place.

Then can you suggest some kind of anticheat client? Punk Buster, X-Chat(or something in brick fart), ....

What he meant is that this still wouldn't get the hacks away, somehow someone will end up finding a way to hack.

Well aimbots will for the most part be impossible. unless you can find a way to make one with only editing in game data values.

No anti-hack is ever perfect. It's as plain and simple as that. If an old hack doesn't work anymore, someone out there will make a new one.

But it would still stop all hacks that load .dll's. There isnt much of a way of getting past it if the clients must be the same in a files laoded way.

Anti-hack stuff is a full time job. For every problem that is solved, the hackers will eventually create a new one.
At best, Ben's efforts might buy a temporary reprieve, and he still has a game to code in between any attempts at defeating hacking.

If Ben starts charging, maybe he could use some of that money to hire someone to handle the anti-hack portion of the game.

Anti-hack will never work until AoS stops relying on the client.

Well maybe ill go learn some python and do this myself... But i dont think that just a plugin can do this.

But i would also like to say that we will never truely know how well this works until we try. After all, we do miss all the shots we dont take.
