New way to think about building and destroying at sea level

Got a great new idea for the game?

New way to think about building and destroying at sea level

Postby nalyd8991 » Thu May 03, 2012 2:05 am

Building something on water is nearly impossible with the current setup. Anything you build, you can't access from the water because it's a block too high. What I was thinking, is to make building at sea level possible, but only if it's connected to land. Essentially for building and destroying purposes, the water would react like air. Also, if a block is destroyed at sea level, the space would fill with water. Along with all of this, the "bedrock" would have to be lowered by a block. That way, things can be built at sea level, but it wouldn't be completely free and unlimited.

This is a good idea, however the natural terrain of the map has to stay indestructible, otherwise 1 click would kill the map.

Pyspades script?
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

You can already build all the way around, he's basically suggesting that you can build 1 block lower, and still be able to break it too.

Love the idea
Building over water as it is is a pain in the ass,
But maybe because water is supposed to be a disadvantage?

Truth. This game is in beta, after all. It's our responsibility to adapt to change.

It depends on how it's done. If the feature is hard coded in, then it might or might not break 1 block tall maps. If you just raise the water level by a block, or another easy fix like that, then, unless it somehow automatically adds a block to the bottom of the map, it might break maps like pinpoint.

I think you should just be able to raise the sea level into a build able area
