Could this method be used to help stop griefing?

Got a great new idea for the game?

Could this method be used to help stop griefing?

Postby sportsfan2 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 7:07 am

Hi all,

Basically as well all know there is an option where if a player destroys 3 blocks within 3 seconds or something like that, then s/he can be killed by teammates (this effect lasts for 3 seconds or so). I think this is a great way to help stop griefers who use the spade and the SMG.

However what this fails to help stop is nade griefing. Griefers often chuck 3 nades in a building, then proceed to walk by like nothing happened. Worse yet if a structure is close enough to the Tent then they'll just re-stock on nades and grief again.

Now my suggestion, if it's possible is to make it so that when a player throws a nade, it won't do damage to blocks that their teammates built. So if a Green Player throws a nade, any blocks that other Green Players built won't be affected by nade damage. I was just wondering if the game engine could be changed so that Blue Blocks can be identified from Green blocks.

Thanks for reading.

They should probably just make it so that you can kill grenade griefers.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

Better idea:
1.Track their IP
2.Search for their house
3.Get a bag and wrap it over their heads
4.Beat them up with a baseballbat
5.??????????
6.Profit

It's better to walk in the dark with a friend than it is to walk alone in the light.

I was just about to agree, but grenades always blow SOMETHING up, so how would you distinguish if the nade thrower is a greifer or not?

It's pretty much a losing war against griefers...

If my idea was implemented, it wouldn't matter :)

If he destroys friendly structures intentionally, duh.

How do you distinguish an accident from an act of malice? It is possible to accidentally drop a grenade near a friendly structure. If they drop three it's a fair sign that they mean it, but people who are there to grief won't care if you kill them. They're griefing. Often they may see death as simply an opportunity to restock on grenades and smg ammo.
IMO just using the badmin script is a good enough solution. Add something like "Seen a griefer? /votekick theirname griefing!" to the server help messages and anyone who understands basic English and cares enough will take care of it for you.
