Okay this is an idea i got from playing on the Shams Little Ponie server where there are the quite useful !here, !tunnel commands among others
Anyways my idea (hopeing it is in someways original :L) is to have 'team commanders' of some description, (who could become them by appying to the people who run the server and then, if they are trusted, put on a special whitelist with its own password, much like admins) once there, they could give commands to either squads or people, such as 'defend our base in f6' or 'build a tunnel through the hill !there'
Upon the task being completed the commander could then award an apropriate amount of points to the people he assigned the task too.
In the interest of keeping it fair he/she would not be able to award points to himself and if they constantly award large amounts of points to 'friends' complaints would be made to the server who upon reviewing the logs could take the privalige away from them.
I hope this would encourage more tactical gameplay

The idea sounds good, but it will only work if the other players care anough to listen to their commander's orders. I'd imagine most players would continue being 'lone wolves'.

Good point, the reward would have to be big enough for people to be bothered to listen to them but not so big as to make intel caps (or whatever the game mode) redundant.
Some sort of punishment for repeatedly ignoring them maybe?

I don't know about punishing people. Maybe the awards can be linked to a player's game and forums account, and the player would have an-in game 'rank' based on how many awards he or she has. That would give people a reason to follow orders.

Thats a freakin awsome idea, most posts ive read where people talk about linking the forum accounts and in game and having like stats page most dissagreement ive seen about that has been because people think it will just encourage lone wolfs to go off after the intel so that they look really good but if on the stats page it showed how many tasks you had completed that would be completly different.
