as i have watched this thread grow i have seen that the majority of our community seems to like this idea a lot and wants it implemented and i have tried to accept that this is a good thing but i can't seem to be able to do such a thing. the biggest downfall to this in my opinion is the fact that the entire sniper gameplay will have to be changed and new tactics will have to be developed in order to compensate for this new gameplay mechanic. having said that, this game is no where near "realistic" as compared to actual warfare and although implementing a new mechanic may make the game closer to what is reality, the game itself was not meant to be virtual reality. although i am fully open to try new things and see how a bullet drop mechanic would work, i am not excited of the idea of adding such a mechanic and would like it better if the game stayed the same as it is now.

Should the community hinder change?
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

If its a change for the worse, yes. Although "for the worse" is pretty subjective.

Community wants something that isn't random inaccuracy, bullet drop isn't random or luck dependant.

I know why people wont want this feature cos people who like to use the rifle and kill people. But if there is a bullet drop they wont like it cos it will be harder to kill people.
But i would love this job because it makes it a bigger challenge

Replace random inaccuracy with this and I'll start using rifle again.
Although I voted for "Not sure".
Not sure why. ;)

Pinpoint death laser is what this game's rifle should go back to, simply make it so hip-fire is very large and inaccurate.

But will the bulletdrop work well on a blocky landscape?
Probrably not

Only time i noticed it at 100 yrds was with a .22 long rifle (aka tiny bullet with hardly any powder). And since AOS has a restricted view distance of around 150-200 yards (200 is optimistic) bullet drop would be so insignificant you would hardly notice. Also the heads are so large you could still aim the same way as before. therefore the addition of bullet drop would be pointless.

Fun fact: 7.62x39 drops ~25 cm - or 10 inches - in 150 yards when fired through a standard 16 inch barrel. Game cartridges (and i don't mean video- here) are usually more powerful than carbine cartridges, but I'll be damned if they don't drop on 100 yards just as well. That's the difference between hitting the lungs/heart and hitting a leg muscle.

Or a difference between a headshot and a bodyshot in AoS.

Perhaps your sights were zeroed for 100 yards.

If it's a server setting, then hell yeah! All for it, in that case.

If it's going to completely replace how the game works now, no thanks. I'd love it if it were an optional thing, though. The more customization and options to AoS, the better. If you've got a solid answer, I'll place my vote. :D

I think server setting, although no ability to change the gravity (Although an overall gravity change mod/toggle would be awesome).

If we were to do this though, you're going to nigh have to add a sniper rifle simply because you do not usually use a standard battle rifle's iron sight to scope. It's just not enough because of the clarification (Magnification), or the closed off area to calculate drop.

Which brings us to the Sniper Rifle.
However - We need to nerf the regular rifle first to pave way.

Add spread. Not a terrible amount, but we'll leave the pin point to the sniper.
Lower damage. Something like an 80 damage headshot, and a 40 damage torso shot, and 25 damage limb shot
Increased fire rate/less recoil. It's going to be made for a mid-range scenario.

Along with that, the SMG and Shotgun should have a greater effect in terms of spread for long range, as well as drop.

Range penalties for damage and/or block damage should be implemented. This would definitively help with SMG spam.

Sniper Rifle?

Pin-Point Accuracy (ON DA DOT)
5-Round magazine
Slow reload (Either load the bullets in one by one at a moderate pace, or doing something with a stripper clip would be good)
Bolt-Action (Slow fire rate, and a phaze out of scoped mode after each shot)
High vertical recoil
I think sway is a bit overkill however. I don't mean this to separate the men from the boys, but come on. You need some sense to actually snipe, and bullet drop will kill out a fair amount of newbies. The rest can die off from lack of strategy.

Maybe remove magnification for all weapons except for the sniper rifle?

Edit: Also, Sniper could only one-hit kill on headshot. Torso damage probably 60. Limbs damage 35.
