I would like to have a pistol type sidearm for when I run out of rounds in my clip.
It doesn't have to be very powerful, even the damage done by a single smg round would be fine, but please let me have a sidearm!

I love the ability to kill with my spade. It makes the whole "Ace of Spades" name fit perfectly with the game itself, but sometimes I run out in the midst of a shootout, too far to pull out the spade, and it's an automatic death.

If everyone has one, it's fair, they too can switch to it, if needed, and if they still have ammo in their clip then they still get an advantage anyway.

What do you guys think?

I think if you are running low on ammo you should not enter a 'shootout'. And if you do run out then you should duck and weave and make your way back to the tent.

Running straight towards people with a shovel is not effective.



If a sidearm was implemented, its only purpose would be close range kills while reloading (ie replacing shovel), and helping you get safely back to base when out of ammo - which you should do with the last of your ammo anyway.

Sooner or later, this will be introduced to the game. I'd prefer sooner.
Dat feel when i advance towards enemy's base with my rifle, a sudden squad of blues run from behind a wall, i quickly shoot almost every one of them.. Then i realize the last shot misses slightly, my rifle's out of bullets and there's no cover.
For dmg, maybe 2 headshots for a kill and body&limbshots the same as with the SMG

Well i dont think this game needs any sidearm.there are already enough weapons.

Don't fight 11 guys all at once when you have 10 bullets in the clip.

You can call bad ammo management all you want, but the fact is *everyone* finds themselves in this position at one time or another. You seriously telling me that you don't want a sidearm to whip out and finish the job with?

I'm not really sure how you think it's an issue with ammo management, go watch some of the better gameplay montages out there and come back and talk to me.

Only once have I run out of ammo. And since I didn't mind having a 50 KDR I just killed myself.

To me, and to many other players who do no waste their ammo, this suggestion is akin to "Please raise health to 200 because I keep running out of it and dieing and its very annoying"

I am seriously telling you that I do not want a sidearm. Not only because I do not need it, but because it ruins a very important aspect of the game. Killing people is only 1 part of the game, if I am out of ammo I can still be useful to my team by digging trenches and tunnels, building walls, sapping buildings, etc.

I think it is time to face facts, this game is not a mindless shooter, there is more to it than killing the enemy. Oh, and you do need to think to play too.

There is nothing you can learn about ammo management from highly edited monages - perhaps it was all part of 1 streak, perhaps there was 20 deaths inbetween, maybe it was on pyspades, maybe it was vanilla.

ok, you are arguing an irrelevant point.
1. I didn't say for running out of ammo all together, I'm talking about when my clip is empty, but the enemy only requires one more shot to kill. Whip out pistol, kill, reload main gun.

2. I'm not talking about montages, obviously they're heavily edited. Try gameplay that is uninterupted.. that's what I was referring to.

I hardly ever run out all together, and yeah, I can dive behind cover to reload. The point is, I want to have the option. It's something that I feel is missing from the game, not something that would make the game better.. it would bring the tactical aspect to par. (imo)

2. You said montages, now you are saying "hur durr not montages"? Why would I watch some deuce forget to reload? I don't understand. I know there are bad players in the game, but why should they be given an advantage?

Adding pistols just so that poor players don't have to think is the opposite of tactical.

Any implementation of pistol would have to be significantly weaker than any main weapon - no player above deuce level would bother to use it since with decent ammo management you will never need to.

Have you ever played a shooter other than aos?

All of your arguments make no sense in the context that I'm talking..

Yes, the sidearm is much weaker than the primary weapon. that's the point.
Why wouldn't I continue to attack when my clip is empty, if I have already taken the majority of my enemie's health, and I have a sidearm, I will use it and I will win the engagement.. If I break off to reload, sure I can pick up the engagement again, but with a sidearm there is no need.

Ok, I meant gameplay videos, I mistyped.. obviously a montage is heavily edited, but you will still see what I'm talking about in one, so it's still relevant to my point.

I understand that you do apparently not like to use sidearms, if that's the case, don't use it.
I've been playing fps games since Wolf3D.. I definitely don't have issues with ammo management.. but there are definitely times when I am in a ffirefight and my magazine or clip is empty, there is a ~25% hp enemy in front of me, and no cover to reload behind. Let's say I just killed 5 people and now I am about to finish off the last guy.. how does ammo management even come into it?

Since it is a side arm it should not be very powerful

I agree.. I intend it as a backup weapon, not intended to be used as a primary.
Let's say your primary weapon actually is out of ammo, the handgun should not be a viable substitute..

But, if I do 90% damage with my primary and then need to switch, I can.
I don't believe it would take away from the game we have now, but it would definitely add another layer of tactics to the firefights.
