Hey there,
I've been playing this game for quite some time now (and even made a map for our planned israeli server), and although I enjoyed the simplicity of the game a lot, there are two features I think can be added to the game to make it better and keep it simple.
1. Indestructible Block - A major problem I have seen is that bored players get into servers and start mass destruction the map for no apparent reason. Its ok when you shoot down some flat trees at the start, but systematical destruction of buildings and bridges which are part of the map just ruins the map for every one. This isnt the game maker's fault and it cant be prevented by the map makers nor the server admins, its plainly a phenomenon thats derived from the game's style. So... what do we do aout it? Indestructible blocks can be added to game, that will be placed only by the map maker to stengthen important structures in the map. Wouldn't that ruin the idea of destructible environment? No, smart designing can make structures hard to grief yet easy to adjust. For example a cube could be built with this wall:
â–“â–’â–’â–’â–“
â–’â–“â–’â–“â–’
â–’â–’â–“â–’â–’
â–’â–“â–’â–“â–’
â–“â–’â–’â–’â–“
The cube cant be brought down, but you can make holes in it and carve it to make bunkers/hideouts.
2. The second feature, which is related to the first, is blocks which are hard to break. My idea is that they will cost like 10 normal blocks, so making structures mainly from them will either take a whole round or will be a team effort. They can be used though to build quick stronger cover when under fire or to strengthen buildings' base. I think this option should be tried, and kept as long as it doesnt ruin the game's simplicity.
Thanks for reading, feel free to comment, and I hope AoS makers will see this post and consider it.
