Maybe if blocks had different attributes for taking damage and whatnot you wouldn't have to be replacing them all the time. Or I know this would anger some folk but maybe halving/quartering the block size for more detailed environments and making prebuilt block structures to throw together in front lines. yet digging and what not still pulls out the same volume of blocks for tunnel creation. Might make vehicles easier with a less jagged plane as well.
I know it'd take some map rewrites and tool edits, but I checked out Ken Silverman's demo's years ago and the
engine power is definitely there. It won't be long before this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CCZIBDt1uM stuff starts coming out, which is super awesome too.
Anyhow, either way AoS is pretty sweet as is. If that's too much reworking stuff then ah well.

No thanks. I think part of the idea of the game is that it is fluid, so structures being destroyable is good, you SHOULD be constantly rebuilding. I think at this stage smaller blocks would just look bad, and I don't want vehicles.

halving the environmental blocks wouldnt effect anything else as far as blocksize is concerned. for example, player voxels are much smaller than the environment blocks, as are the gun and CP's. If Ben wanted to, he could quadruple the environment block size making the game unplayable, but the CP would still be the same size with the same number of voxels.

Now i hate this idea, all itd do is make it more of a pain in the ass to FIX the structures as you have to carefully locate the smaller holes that now only server to allow bullets coming in, where as before you could at least easily shoot from them.
