[Suggestion] Seperate First Person Arm model implemention

Got a great new idea for the game?

[Suggestion] Seperate First Person Arm model implemention

Postby Maxxis » Wed Feb 29, 2012 9:55 am

Well, the idea came out after I download a broken hand version of AoS skin in this forum.
If we can put a first person model for gun, then why not make arms available too ?

At least, modders can makes custom hands, for guns that too long/too short. Also they will fixes the hands problem when the gun attached in third-person model.

What do you think?

Are you suggesting separate files for the first person and the third person view? It has already been suggested, but it is a good idea.

i personally like having my gun floating by my side, perhaps if it can be well made, which is hardly, and would limit modders or make their job harder, since you would have to either match the hands with the gun or mod both of them to suit the weapon, or maybe all 3 weapons, 4 if you include the grenades, its really doubtful there would be 4 different hand models, if there is, even more work for everyone in the modding community

welp, go figure!, ben is busy with auto-build and sprinting already

No? This would make modders life way easier, since you can have all kinds of crazy weapons which still won't go nuts from third person view.
This is not too hard to add either, we just need separate files (which can be just copied).

it would open up more possibilities, but would make modding a much more longer work than it is supposed to be

>take semi.kv6
>mod it
>overwrite
>done

>take semi.kv6
>mod it
>take playerarmssemi.kv6
>mod it to adjust your new semi model
>go back to your semi.kv6, see if they are both aligned
>go test in-game
>figure out they are weird/awkward looking
>back to step 4

its just a bunch of work for something that is already simple

The gun model STILL use for BOTH first person and third person.
Only the hands on 1st.
Not a hard job for ben, just add a hand model and attach it with the gun, erh?

Could I facepalm more?

If this was implemented, we could go all nuts on first person view without making it to look crap in third person view. Modding would become so much EASIER idiot.

Lets see if I got it right...That new arms would actualy replace the left arm on the player model,so that we could see it both in first and in third person?

I think he ment like this bro.
They put in hands when having a weapon which is connected to the weapon your holding.
When having this(with of course an on/off button)you don't need to make a gun version with hands anymore.
Simple!

I would rather have the arms model we already have on the player model visible from first person, and allowing it to be modified.Would be better than adding a whole new .kv6

*facepalm*
You can just edit the arms to make them big enough to hold the gun.
With a new kv6 we can then make the hands big enough to hold any gun.
It would make modding so much better.
NOTE:I can't speak for sure that it will be good,I must first test it.
