I dislike the "restrictions" that came with the new forums. The old ones were much more simple, in fact I don't think we had any rules at all aside from the basic no flaming/spamming/double posting. Even then, those were loosely enforced. The fact that the community was so small back then pretty much meant that the community itself enforced the rules. If you did something stupid you got called out and your reputation was done for. I think the current forums are still small enough for this.

An example is some 8 year old comes in and posts al liek dis u guyz suk im 17 btw atso remove hekr adn aimpot plz jk remove from globl banz.

Back then they would get a large amount of the community telling them how stupid they are and to stop posting. Today if someone replied like that they might get a warning for flaming, or any sarcastic responses might be considered spam, while the op technically did nothing against the rules, and probably wouldn't get the message they did something wrong.

Now obviously that example is a little exaggerated, but I still think we would be operating better on a simpler "Just don't be stupid" rule set.
