I was in the Artillery team asset I had posted when I had an idea concerning it:
A game mode where you have to destroy the other team's side of the map by building a massive artillery battery or several smaller ones.(The suggestion for the weapon itself is here -->http://ace-spades.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=234&t=13701
Similar to the idea of "wreck the other team's building" or it can be seen as a more vicious and simplified version of "Babel."
Theoretical Rules:
-Just like Babel, you would need to be close enough to the enemy Artillery battery (or batteries) to destroy it/ them. Atillery would ignore this rule.
-Teams would defend a massive structure or set of structures that are prefabricated and symmetrical to the other team. As long as one of these structures is standing, a team is still in the game.
Strategies a team could use:
- Plan A: The doomsday weapon.
In short, build a really big gun and fire it once. Building such a weapon would require a lot of time, a lot of builders, and a lot of blocks to be consumed as ammo in order for it to work best. Once fired however, the enemy team could be defeated in a single shot.
-Plan B: Economical spam.
Simply put, use a lot of smaller guns. Building each gun would be faster, as would reloading them. You would however, need several spotters (one for each gun) and you would need to make sure your base was well defended from infantry before going. The advantage here however, is constant barrages could keep an enemy busy and delay their plans. As each gun is constructed, it can begin firing while another gun is going. This method could also be used to buy time for the doomsday weapon plan.
-Plan C: Classic Sapping.
Less building involved in this one. Dig out the enemy structures just like one would in Babel while your friendly artillery distracts the enemy as your team digs.
All of the above plans could be combined to increase effectiveness and cover weaknesses if done correctly.
Be sure to comment and question as it generates great stuff!
