First you of course need to improve the core gameplay before adding more variation for guns, but I think this would actually be a somewhat interesting concept. Also I don't know anything about which guns where used in Vietnam war or any historial facts.

A gun which is a mixture of an assault rifle and a semiautomatic rifle.
The gun shoots in 3 round bursts, where the 3 bullets are fired with an extremely high speed, but there's a little break after the 3 bullets to shoot another 3.
The gun would have a good performance at longer ranges, but is outclassed by smg and shotgun in close combat.

Head: 50
Body: 20
Limbs: 15

Advantages over smg:
+ Longer range
+ Less recoil, atleast when standing still
+ No need for crouch to get a tolerable recoil (This allows the traditional strategy of popping your head up behind a wall and shooting a little bit, the changing position and doing the same again)
+ More ammo concervative

Disadvantages over smg:
- Destroying blocks takes longer time
- Close combat is harder
- Reloading takes longer time (to add more flavour)
- Only shoots in bursts

Advantages over semi:
+ More room for missing shots
+ Better block destruction
+ Faster RoF

Disadvantages over semi:
+ More tracers which makes stealth harder
+ No OHKO
+ Less ammo concervative
+ More recoil

I always liked this kind of thing,but everytime I think about how it would be in AoS,I think about something like,the hability to change the firing mode.This would allow the smg to try to pick heads at a longer range.And,if an assault rifle is added,it would be able to change between burst and full-auto

The thing currently is that our smg is an assault rifle.

This sounds reasonable, though I think that the way it is already is great. Everything is balanced out and if something is changed, and things get unbalanced we could lose a lot of active members.

From your description I wrote full stats which would be something like:

DTorso: 20
DHead: 50
DLimbs: 15
Delay(between bursts): 0.3
Delay2(between shots in burst): 0.05
Reload: 2.5
Spread: 0.005
VRecoil: -0.03
MagazneSize: 30
DefaultAmmo: 90
BulletsPerShot: 3

There is no feasible way that this weapon could have more recoil than the semi. Also, this would be the most powerful gun at anti-material, since 3 bullets is the exact amount needed to destroy a block.


As a long-ranged block destroyer I see a role for this. As a half-way weapon between semi and smg I don't think it is necessary.

Well, for me, the gun you keep describing seems like BAR...

Also, i think that the idea of adding more guns would be good,
but ONLY once we have some other pieces of equipment (e.g. medikit, ammopack).
These pieces of equipment would be sort of secondary weapons, and you would select
which ones to use just like with primary, these items would take up grenade slot...
But THEN AGAIN, i have to think that GM would like to make integrated server GUI first,
so it might be a while until we see new items.

For all i can think of the game (version 1.0 or something) should have following arms:
1 rifle (Existing model of m14, just with a scope instead of ironsights, AND a slower rate of fire or smaller clip)
2 machine gun type weapons (Thompson instead of MP5, and BAR as a heavy machine gun)
1 explosive launcher (mortar or grenade launcher, but SMALL AMOUNT OF AMMO)

And secondary weapons/items:
1 pistol (propably m1911, maybe Nambu)
1 grenade type (existing frag should do it)
2 miscallenious items (medikit, ammopack, maybe 2 of each)

Not shure if want. Maybe increasing the rifle's ammo capacity to 12 and letting us choose between single-shot and burst would do the trick. Then again, it would ruin the balance between the guns, which means more work for Ben, and less time spent on honing the game mechanics and/or fixing bugs.
