I'm open to it.

Double tap any direction to move faster in that direction, but turning with arrow keys stops it, and you can't do any other actions (shoot, dig, place blocks, grenades, etc). No need for clumsy shit like stamina bars or cooldown.

inb4minecraft has something similar and it sucks in SMP with lag. Don't worry, due to the way AoS handles input it will work without lag.

I've seen quite a few suggestions on running, and thought I'd add my own. This is an actual game-modifying mechanic, not some 'hurr durr you run fastr' thing.

By holding down left shift, your character will start running. There is a new animation for it. While running, you will:
autoclimb (assuming it gets removed at some point)
Have a slight cursor sway
Move at 1.5 times normal speed
Camera zooms out to a third person view.

Over time, the cursor sway gets worse, and you will slow down due to fatigue, forcing you to stop at some point. As you can see, this will severely change the way the game is played. Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether this will encourage suicide rushes or actual strategy...

This is a first person shooter, not your usual third person GoW.. Keep it 1FPS.

Best suggestion ever. Also, the slowness you experience from autoclimbing should not occur when you are sprinting. This will make the game less about being able to spot players in the deep fog and snipe, and it will give shotguns, SMGs, and rushing more of a point.

But when this is implemented, I want crouching, sneak walking, and sprinting to be toggled instead of you having to hold down a key. We already have the shift key and ctrl key used, so I don't know a key to use that would provide advantage, other than caps lock (but it would be annoying to have caps changed when running.) Perhaps the middle mouse button could be used as the run toggler. :)
