The Foreign Fix

Got a great new idea for the game?

The Foreign Fix

The Problem

I hear so many people complain about the Polish and Brazilians these days. Well, here is the problem I have with them. They take up server space because they're incommunicable.

So why would I say they take up server space if they have as much right to play AoS as we do? Because if we can't communicate with them, they can't be a part of the English community, both in-game and on the forums. If they can't be a part of either community, it becomes frustrating on both sides. We get tired of them looking for players from their own country, and they get tired doing it.

Some players don't have a problem with the foreigners in-game. If you knew what some of them were saying, you might just have a problem with them.

The Solution

My solution to this problem would be to have a few different AoS websites for the foreigners. For example, if you were in Poland, you would be redirected to the Polish Ace of Spades homepage, servers, and forums.

There would no longer be any foreign servers or players on the English website. Our site would be fully English - Nothing more, nothing less. The Polish and Brazilian population would be happily on their own website chilling with their own language and servers.

Possible Faults

There are a few faults in this. For one, Ben might would have to pay more to host those websites. It might even cost hundreds more to do so, depending on the host he uses. Another problem would be hiring staff. The foreign population is smaller than the English population, even if it doesn't seem so. It would be a bit of a pain to have to find more staff - and have to translate their language.

Feedback and discussion is appreciated.

What if someone is foreign and actually know how to speak English, and want to play in the English community?

Why not just add an option where if you join a server they talk the launuage you're in but they still talk in their launguage. Like think about it. You say Bonjour then it would come up Bonjour, (Hello)

Is german hard to learn? My father said after I finish the English course(even though I can already speak english pretty well(thanks, videogame!) and I'm doing it just to make him happy) I can select any language I want, so I was thinking about taking German lessons.

Well, Portuguese is one of the hardest languages in the world because of the ridiculous shit-ton of grammatical rules, so I guess I'm kinda used to learning a lot of shit.

Anti-Polaks'n'Brazilian suggestion thread no. 368...

The problem with Polish (Brazilian to a lesser extent) servers is that the ping is based on the location of the master server, not the host's server.
I mean, I technically should have severe connection problems with USA servers, and 100% smooth gameplay on Polish ones.
It's the polar opposite, Polish servers have some of the highest pings out there, despite how logic should actually work.

Hence the amount of Polaks you see out there.
Don't blame them/us, it's not our fault that the servers we should be technically playing with no problems are unplayable.

You found my secret signature line, damnit! Alright, Polaks are bad, I admit. But it's not their fault.

I once got better ping in an israeli server(around 900ms) than in a Brazilian(1400ms) server being hosted in Brasilia(around 1.000km from here).

i wonder does anyone happen to live in Kansas. Google's gonna launch their 1 gbps (100 MB/s) fiber optic internet soon. if all the servers were hosted there, then wouldn't everyone get good speeds? Google's offering it for 70 bucks a month.
figure we could run all the ace of spade's servers from some dude's house in Kansas and no ping no matter how far away you are.

as for forums, we could have region-specific boards & site, but links that allow multi-lingual people to switch to other versions of the site.

as for translation, Google does a good job of it. I think. no one really needs to actually translate anything, make Google do it.

TRUST me, you DON'T want us, Polaks, to go through the pain of Google-translated AoS site.
ANY site for that matter...

The cables trough the ocean give a shit how fast the cables in kansas are.
Also many european internetcompanys arent good with the americans thus slowing down the traffic.
