A twist on the idea of adding hats.

Got a great new idea for the game?

A twist on the idea of adding hats.

Postby bobbotheclown » Sat Jul 07, 2012 6:56 am

Customizable .kv6 template for making a hat. the exact same shape as the default helmet on playerhead.kv6

And these .kv6 go to the server hosting the game when you join, then sent to other players. when you leave the hat gets deleted from all computers but your own.

that way you can make a hat as silly as you want and it would only effect what you look like. of course some size limits would need to be put in place. otherwize people would be walking around as giant black blocks and silly things like that.

Idea is like tf2 hats. but no possible way to have that stupid virtual economy.

~seperate note~
but if ben were to implement something to create a virtual economy similar tf2 he could in theory make some money off the game without making it a payed game. Just add a cosmetic store and trading. people will want things. Provided they aren't overpriced.

What about... no hats? Seriously, I don't understand this fetish people have for hats.

Oh, team colors, too. Of course if you checked most hats in TF2 have team colors. Green helmet? Of course, unless you create your hat green, then it's green.
Oh, yea it's cool. So how does this work? Cilent uploads playerhat.kv6 to server?(Just pretend that's the file we're talking about)

I don't think he gets how .kv6 files work..they're strictly local and your mods only affect your view. Your .kv6 files aren't sent to anyone else's computer.

Even though I don't play Aos that much anymore I wouldn't want to in a server and half the kids have dick helmets.

I never said they were. the idea was to send the kv6 model to the server. not that it already does it.

thats exactly how it works. and playerhat.kv6 gets sent to the other clients. not like they are big files. modloader pretty much proved that the game could operate almost flawlessly while switching mods. as well.

And you could turn them off in the settings "playerhats=false" to make them not download.

There'd be no way to regulate them so no. Unless of course you wanna go the whole nine yards and implement crates and overpriced keys as well.
