A support class

Postby lolpwned23 » Fri May 18, 2012 2:03 am

I know medic idea have usually been shutdown but please hear me out.

This class is used for giving help to his or her teamates.

Inventory- Syringe gun: Has 10 syringes that can be shot at team mates to heal them 50 health

- ammo boxes: A box that has a supply of 5 rifle bullets, 10 smg bullets, and 4 shotgun bullets

- Three round burst gun: 4 bullets to kill, 2 for headshots, has 24 bullets 6 in each clip. Fires at about the same
speed as the rifle, slightly faster

If you do not think this should be added do you atleast think that some type of medic class is needed?

Exactly. They are not really classes, only options. Classes, at least in the way I see, are something that makes you play in a certain playstile e.g medic with SMG. This is bad. Lets say that the medic class forces you to use SMG. You prefer Semi Rifle. There, you have a paradoxe. A much better and flexible way to implement it is with a slot system. After team and weapon selection screen, we have equipment selection screen, between Grenades, Medkits, Ammo box and a pistol.

I believe that this has been suggested a shitton of times (thanks to the report), but I will leave this last thread for discussion and later on add it to the DNSL.

how do classes unbalance the game? that doesn't even make sense, team fortress 2 and battlefield 3 are not the only games that use the class system, and from what I have played/seen, neither of those games are very unbalanced at all.

anyway, yeah, just make it so there is some equipment slot with grenades, ammo, medkits, satchel charges, binoculars, and other things like that. but something with support would be cool, I like that idea

The thing that makes me disappointed about this thread is the syringe gun.

Just doesn't fit into the AoS theme. I'd rather give them a medkit or a shot of whiskey to dumb down the pain.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.

Aren't medical and ammo crates supposed to be included in the next couple of updates? If so, then do we really need a medic class if health and ammo is going to drop from the sky?

My main problem with classes is that it forces you to do something. See the example I gave. Lets say that the Medic class forces you to use SMG. You rather use the rifle, but you really like that nice medkit. See where I'm going?

And, IMO, Battlefield is kinda balanced because most weapons are nearly the same. Almost all of them on all kits are automatic(except for Recon). The difference is only minor (Support kit guns have slower rate of fire, with exception of M 249 and M27 IAR, engineers gun tend to have a smaller punch, but with usually a higher rate of fire, the exception being the SCAR-H, with a big punch, small mag and slow RoF, and the AKS-74u).
I never really played TF2, but from what I see, there are some classes that are better than others. A Heavy could use his shit-ton of bullets to take down a Scout pretty fast, even if the Scout goes jumping around. But I should note that I never played TF2, and this is only from what I suppose seeing some videos and reading the TF2 wiki.

I say that the grenade will be turned into a utility slot. The utility slot could contain grenades, medkits, ammo boxes, extra blocks, etc.
