im running a 24" monitor, and it says: Server connection failed

Well, you could try different servers.

Monitor is not related to the server connection at all. Unless you mistaking it for game resolution error :P

I don't know why you mentioned the size of your monitor, but i can say that I am having the same problem. I can't connect to any servers at all! I don't know why. I've tried reinstalling the client but it does not work! Anyone have a solution or knows what I may be doing wrong, please reply! I could play the game, but then one day the error: Server connection failed error pops up. :( Please help!
