Inventory weight system

Postby ahm99 » Thu May 24, 2012 4:05 pm

I am aware that someone suggested classes. And I think it would be interesting if you could adjust things a bit. For example, you could use a slider to give yourself 1 or 2 more grenades but would require that you take away some bullets or something.

You could maybe get something like 100 inventory points total.
This would be divided among the items in your inventory.

----GRIEFING ISSUES----
Someone could make their grenade partition 99%, which could mean serious griefing. This would mean there would have to be some kind of limit.

Post what you think and how this could be better.

I dont really see any reason for this coz you're given enough bullets to last you till you die and 3 grenades is 1 too many.
If you want more bullets or grenades replenish at the tent.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but it shouldn't get too detailed. Otherwise we have a whole science added because of these "Loadouts". Maybe something like 1 extra grenade, 1 weapon clip is taken away.

Another concept is actually "Weight". You could carry 50 extra blocks, but have no sprinting. Maybe an Extra Magazine for the weapons have the same effect.

Yes, that would allow some specialisations - builder, grenadier, rusher, kamikaze (grenades only, speed maxed out)...

well I'm not talking about classes, that has already been suggested. This is rather the ability to maybe trade a grenade for 10 extra bullets and things like that.

A decent idea, kudos on coming up for something that has not previously been suggested.

Perhaps an adjustment to this would be better, instead of using a weight point system why not use a tetris inventory system?

Ignore that the SMG is not on the inventory, the semi is 1x4 blocks, the smg is 3x2 so obviously you cant have both ;P
more ammo takes more blocks up, same with grenades. We could add extra items like medkits and binoculars etc very easily with this system.

Including weapons themselves in the weight system would be fine if there was more weapons, and the abitity to pick several weapons (for example heavy MG + shotgun to make a tank-berserker), I think that a simple weight bar would be enough

Depends. Its not too hard to find yourself with no ammo. I often get dozens and dozens of kills per life, depending on who I play, and I sometimes find myself out of ammo, especially on pinpoint. This would be a fairly good idea.

THis would over complacate the game. This would also make a pree game set up or have a menu. Im going to say no.

Gorman's idea is the best, that is also an inventory system that I haven't seen in a while. it is a cool idea, I support it

As much fun as itd be to have a resident evil 4 inventory system, the mere thought of people simply getting 12 grenades and them spamming them off turns me off the entire idea.

that would make this game even funnier, I hadn't thought of that. but I guess there could be restrictions on the amount of grenades, maybe resize the rectangle, or just make it so you can only have up to 3-4 grenades at spawn.

Meh. AOS Doesn't have stuff like medkits, or whatever you want. So there's pretty much no point for an inventory weight system.
