Got a great new idea for the game?

Suggestions forum users please read!

Please stop posting polls on suggestions. Suggestions are not implemented after they receive a majority approval, they are implemented if they are good ideas that will improve the game. On the same note cut out the "+1" and "I approve" posts, I just read a thread that had 5 or 6 in a row. Posts like that are a waste of space, if you like an idea then explain why, the mind reading pluggin has been removed so we have to resort to typing messages - SO DO IT.

That brings me neatly to my next post, stop with the backseat modding posts, just use the report button ok? There is a particular thread that has "close this thread" posted twice. Just report the thread! Threads are for ontopic discussion, reports are for getting staff attention. What does close this thread have to do with vehicles being added? Nothing.

Stop claiming ownership for ideas, I doubt you invented helicopters (if you did, then thank you for your amazing invention). There is a 90% chance that someone here already suggested it, and barring that I bet there is still 10 people who will post in the thread saying they already thought of it. So many threads have useless posts about who thought of an idea first.

Also, USE SEARCH. If someone says read the DNSL and you say "my idea isn't listed" then you clearly did not read the thread (it says to USE SEARCH!). Personally I wish they would set this subforum to require moderator approval before threads are publicly visible, so that we never have to deal with these duplicate threads. But since we don't have a dedicated subforum moderator everyone needs to put in the effort, and use the report button to report any duplicate thread - and of course to search before posting a thread!

Thanks and I hope people can read this and help improve this subforum. If you see anything else that needs improvement, then post!

Irony. (I do agree people should report and not just post 'Please close', but that was quite funny).

More on topic:

There is very little to explain if you agree with a suggestion. If you disagree it is usually easy to explain, but agreeing isn't. However, people still wish to show their support for a suggestion.

With Polls, what is the problem? They show very precisely how many people support/disagree with a suggestion, giving Ben a much clearer idea as to whether the community likes the idea. Often they are also implemented when the topic starter is torn between two ideas for a general idea.

I agree, people should use the search function. (see, not much to explain when agreeing).

From the addition of sprint (and thus removal of stealth) and the changes to weapons, I think we can VERY safely say that Ben does not "develop by democracy", so a show of support is really pointless.

You don't HAVE to post on every single thread, so if you don't have much to explain, don't post.

It's a suggestions forum, people are going to post their support for suggestions they like. That's kind of the idea of a suggestions forum.

While Ben may not take all ideas when they are liked, I can assure you that any smart developer will take consideration of suggestions if they get overwhelming support. This doesn't mean they will be implemented, but it gives them a much higher chance of being considered.

+1

Polls do help though, it makes it easy to see what is popular and what isnt, although it would be better if people wrote reasons why they agree, but saying why you like an idea is often very hard without repeating other people

What does it matter if an idea is popular or not? Popular is not the same as good. Let's judge ideas on their merits, not on how many +1's it has.

I thought ctrl key was stealth, must investigate. As to the thread you make some good points i agree with, back seat modding, search button, +1's, but I disagree with removing polls for reasons allready stated. As to duplicates if a thread gives signifacent thought and tweaking to an idea, i.e. in more depth, it shouldn't be taken down for being copied IMO ;)

If an idea is good, it had a good chance of being popular. The two things are not exclusive by any means. One usually leads to the other.

Not exclusive, but correlation does not imply causation, simply because an idea is popular does not make it good.

The fact is that even if an idea has 100% approval, or 100% disapproval, you still need to read the idea to find out if it is a good idea or not.

So why bother even caring about the approval rate?
