Got a great new idea for the game?

New game mode

Well the mode is called base destruction.
Basically each team has a base instead of an intel. The goal is to destroy the enemies base. The first team to destroy the base wins.
First of all the base should be fairly big to make it harder to hide (but not too big). Also there should be indestructible blocks underneath it to make it impossible to hide under ground or tunnel attack it.
The base should have 5000 health+ to make the battle longer. Every weapon does the same damage as it would normally do.
Grenades should do 150 damage point blank, shovels do 40 damage per swing and head shots are impossible.
When a team's base is damaged, it would show a message like "the blue team's base is receiving damage".
I think this mode will encourage team work, within both building, defensive and attacking positions+ it just seems like a fun idea. So yeh.

Yeah, it seems quite fine indeed. I think there should be a cease fire at the beginning of each game that just allows you to build a base and once the cease fire ends, then you can destroy the base.

Alternately the base could be a big blue/green castle that you physically have to destroy the blocks of in order to win the game.

Personally I think it would be better to do this than have just a number.

^Yeh I think it could be a cool idea , but griefers will totally ruin it, and blocks can be constantly spammed around it.
I guess it can be prevented by making like a no-build-no-destroy zone around the castle, and make the blocks harder to destroy (~7 swings from a shovel should do it) to prevent frustration of the defending team..

Yeah I agree..
It fits the theme of the game to have the "castles/forts" team-colored.
I like the idea behind this though, it's a fairly unique idea and it fits AoS extremely well.

Check out the source mod "SourceForts" it's similar to this in that there is a build phase at the start, and then both teams attack eachother once this phase ends.. I would play it for sure! :)

Only problem is that each player has a small amount of ammo and they can't get any more anywhere else.

Well there goes half the strategic posibilities right there and then. I think it might get a bit tedious dismantling an entire base block by block- why not just have a smaller structure in a courtyard surrounded by high walls, and if the smaller structure is destroyed the enemy team wins?

That's the whole point: make it harder to attack the base and just suicide shovel on it as long as you can.

Well it's just that the moment the structural is hided under ground the whole game is ruined.
But I agree, that could actually be a pretty good version to this.

But if the goal structure is made of blocks, you can't hide it underground, as destroying all blocks around it would bring it crashing down.
