iOS App

Got a great new idea for the game?

iOS App

I don't know about you guys, but I think that an AoS iOS/Android app would be the best thing ever!

Well... it needs quote a lot :
1.) Money
2.) Advanced Android Developer for Money
3.) Make it OpenGL if it isn't
4.) Let it run on 600MHz Processors
5.) Bla bla bla...
And so on.

We all know it could run on rather low end processors. But before even thinking of porting it into mobile devices, Ben should first port it into Mac and Linux.

To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

I agree with you. The port I made relies on the Wine technology, which sadly, isn't implemented yet. Maybe it will work when Ubuntu releases their Mobile version to PUBLIC, but for now... nope.

It's one of the best ideas ever. I would be unbelievably happy if Ben did port it or browser base it so you could play it on smartphones. I would play it a ton more if I could do it from my iPod. I even have the controls figured out! Here's how I figured them. Move=Accelerometer, Look=Drag, Fire=Button bottom right corner, Crouch= Button bottom left corner, Dash=Button above crouch, Chat=Button above fire, Compose message=Mic, Switch items=Two fingers(swipe left/right), Jump=Tap, Map=Minimap up left corner(tap to dispel), Stats=When killed show(or use little button next to m-map, still able to see and shoot with up), Sights=Pinch or spread. Colors=Two finger swipe(up/down). Posting you push buttons next to messages for team/global, post/delete. Hope everyone likes these ideas P.S. If Ben did make an app, he could make it that it opens to the website and you go from there. I sure hope he makes an app for AoS!!

You certainly would need it to use OpenGL as a first, and some HARDCORE coding to make it a NATIVE port.

I think just an app to view the forums would be just fine

Yep. Also, if a mobile version of the game is implemented, either we'll have separate servers or we could have PC players vs phone players, which won't work.

What.. play AoS on your phone? Haha.
Trying to play an FPS on your phone is weird - I know the games exist, but it's not online play. Online play of mobile vs PC users would just be a massacre. Since there is no current offline mode, I really can't see this working.
Even if there was an offline mode, it'd be alot of work and I'd probably say there's more important things than an app.

Imagine trying to snipe with your thumb in the way.. I just can't see it working, sorry.

Why couldn't mobile devs rival computers in gameplay, huh? The controls aren't as complicated as they sound. All you would need to do would be play it enough to develop the skills needed for it. I believe that an app or port would work. OpenGL? Hardcore coding? If that's what it takes, if that's what it takes.

One of the core elements of gameplay is fogline shooting - with too small a screen you'd have no hope.

Consoles? Might be working.
BTW on topic: Then sniping is no use for iPad.

Why is sniping no use for iPad? IT HAS SO MANY PIXELS. Also, console ports may work but not that well
