I am new to this game, joined it about 3-4 days ago, and i love the building aspect of this game but have found that it is almost useless to build fancy structures cause either someone on your team griefs it or the enemy team kills you and destroys the building. and i admit that i destroy enemy buildings when i get a chance too.

But what i think would be a great idea is at the beginning of every match there is a building time which gives each team about 5-10 minutes (time can be tweaked) to build up towers and forts to help with defense. and each team can't cross a line or kill people of the opposite team. so they will be forced to build or tunnel if they so please. again this is just a suggestion. Thoughts? Opinions?

Only really useful in organised matches, in which case you could simply agree to it with the other team.

In a public server the first 5 to 10 minutes is not much, and after that maps may last for hours if not days.

If you want to build then join a map like assault where the enemy has to kill your troops to move forward - so you have lots of time to build. Or a map like pyspades where the terrain makes it harder to advance.

It doesn't have to be in the actual game unless he wants to start making game modes. but maybe servers having this function.

i think it would give teams a good enough head start to making defensive lines and quick towers or whatever they can think of. definitely not elaborate forts. and how long are matches? they seem to go on for a really long time any way. so whats 10 minutes in the beginning to help fortify defenses?

And i haven't tried any of the assault maps. i have played the crazy terrain ones and those are pretty fun. maybe it would be for maps with less terrain.

My point was that even if you have 10 minutes to build at the start (in which you will be stuck in a restricted area of the map with a whole bunch of people who just want to shoot things - ie mass grief) you still have hours to build after that.

Thus I think it is pointless and you should be building the entire game not just for 10 minutes.

well obviously you should be building throughout the entire match. and i'll say it again maybe make it a special game mode or have a server ( i don't know how to set up or run one). it would be available to people who would want to do this.

its a building phase. come on and don't say that this isn't a good idea. is there anyone else who thinks this idea is at least some what a good idea?

As I said this is only really useful in a private match, in which you can enforce any rules you want - for example you could say "no one is allowed to go in d4 and we all must use shovels". In private matches you can literally just make up whatever rules you want.

At the very most this could be a pyspades script, not implemented in to the game.

Ask a python coder nicely and perhaps they will make something for you, this suggestion would be pretty easy to implement.
