Got a great new idea for the game?

SMG Edits and Assault Rifle

I've seen tons and tons of people bitching about how the SMG is overpowered (one of which is me), so how about this suggestion?

SMG:
-Slightly less recoil
-Less effectiveness at range
-Higher rate of fire
-DAMAGE:
Head: 50-ish (Come on, a headshot then a torso is a huge disadvantage to riflemen).
Torso: 24
Limbs: 19
Ammo: 35

Then a new weapon, the assault rifle, to take the role of the current SMG, but with some balance.

Assault Rifle:
-More recoil than original SMG
-Slightly lower recoil than original SMG
-Longer reload time (~3 seconds)
-DAMAGE:
Head: 70
Torso: 31
Limbs: 23
Ammo: 20/25
(It's like the old SMG but with actual balance o_o)

The assault rifle would have to be burst-fire or else it would be to close to the SMG.

YES Higher rate of fire for the smg. I'll love it as a weapon even more.

Anyways this starts adding unnecessary weapons that are too similar, which is why I'm against it.

the shotgun and SMG already are the same role, there's no point in adding another weapon like that unless it's going to include 10 other weapons. I think what they can just do is:
-raise recoil on SMG (make it more random as well)
-reduce clip size to 25
-reduce head damage to 49
-maybe reduce body damage/limb damage? I don't know how much it does
-maybe reduce rate of fire

it really wouldn't be that hard, right now I think it's just too powerful and its recoil is way too easy to control for its power.

That.
I don't think a recoil increase would be needed on the SMG, making it random would do the job already.
Also, maybe replace the SMG with an Assault Rifle?

I don't see why it needs to be replaced to an assault rifle, it's like saying we should replace the semi with a laser gun for whatever reason. I think the idea of having a semi-auto rifle/battle rifle and and an assault rifle is already very similar, an SMG is kind of in between or something, not as similar to the semi. it seems like the general weapon names should be the same, just maybe update the models later on, although right now they're all pretty good.

Hmm, yeah, maybe you're right, it is just that the suggestions about damage make me think more about assault rifles than SMGs.

This is along the lines of what I had thought. Instead of fine tuning a few weapons, we could add more weapons that counter-act the imbalance of the original ones. What I had in mind was adding a sniper rifle, which would dominate at long-range with increased zoom, 1-hit kill to any part of the body, but terrible fire rate. This would make it so the semi wouldn't always be the first choice for most encounters.
