[GAMEMODE] Castle Defense

Got a great new idea for the game?

[GAMEMODE] Castle Defense

Postby ReubenMcHawk » Mon Jun 25, 2012 12:35 pm

In this idea, both teams start out on some kind of symmetrical map with identical structures of some kind. Each team then has to try and attack the other team and level their structure, while protecting their own. Teams are also allowed to build onto their own structure in any way, while not being able to grief it (presumably all team-placed blocks would be protected, and the structure as well). The team whose structure is the last standing wins.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to improve? Personally I want this, as I feel nobody really builds anymore, and I'd like to see that change.

It would be too easy to grief, like griefing stairs in babel mode so no one can walk on them.
And well, it would be too hard to destroy enemy castle. One match will be very long. :v.

It sounds pretty fun, I would play it for sure, but I would be worried about people doing stupid stuff and ruining it.

Well yeah, blockspamming would be a bit of an issue. Not too sure how to stop that. Maybe allow breaking team-placed blocks, just not the base structure itself? That way any griefing can't cost your team the game.

unless of course your team repairs the castle and then some random griefer griefs the teams blocks and drops the castle

It could be as simple as "destroy the object" or something instead. Then matches would be shorter. It could also lead to less griefing since the object could be as simple as a pillar or something and thus be less appealing to griefers. Then teams would still keep their castle in good shape in order to protect their object.
