Builders are often the ones that are underappreciated. They are often the martyrs that give their own lives for the sake of the safety of their own teammates. I think that they deserve recognition for the hard work that they've done.

Make it so that after a bullet hits a block, it continues until it "hits" a player. This second hit will not do damage, rather it will give one point to whoever built the block that saved the poor deuce.

The red (invisible) tracer will be the one that goes through the block. If it could have hit a deuce, if it were not for the cover, then the person who built the cover gains a point. Only bullets shot by the enemy would work.

Sweet! But what if you could just build a man part, then shoot it?
Jk, i bielive pyspades has block placer recognition(or what ever they called it) and oh, we want points only scored if the opposite team shoots your blocks. (points farm servers?)

Yeah. I should have included that you could only score points if an enemy hit the cover. Adding to OP.

EDIT: Do you think I should change it so that you cannot earn points from being shielded by your own blocks?

Yeah, I agree. Also, I think that there should be a limit of, like, 1 point every 3 seconds for each block, so it is harder to simply farm points this way.

This will create a major issue in large structures. Most key points, like major towers, are protected by simple, easy to build walls. The enemy, will naturally attack at the simple walls cause their not close enough for a great attack. Because of this, kill-greedy builders will often only build after the main structures are up, and the hard workers will lose major credibility.

Aint nothing wrong with getting an exponential amount of points more than capturing the intel or killing a dude. Personally Id rather see the abolishment of the point system because of misconceptions easily perceived by people, such as it being an accurate measure of usefulness.

1) The proposed system is pretty damn luck based.
2) As a builder I don't care about points...

But how would the game determine whats sapping? How do we go about not giving points to griefers or people simply tunneling? And why just destruction?

What about every 10 or 5 blocks placed by an enemy you destroy, you get a point? It would distinguish between griefing, tunneling and sapping enemy structures. And, yeah, Why just destruction?

Do you mean points that contribute to the game? If so, poeple would probably just end up building walls instead of actually firing that much.

Builders are very much under appreciated, but I don't think this system would work.

Would work if the player only got 1 point from each person that attack that space, while the player has potential to die from the shot, would not apply to the player if they get hit by the "trace tracer".

Your idea could work. It would support the need to build defenses in tower and major structures. However, a smart player would just abuse the system by make dozens of low, two blocks high walls that would obstruct roads or paths across the battlefield. Dueces would hide under these walls and be killed by grenades, while the player would get the pints since those walls saved the dueces' lives for a while.
