Kill Assists

Got a great new idea for the game?

I think this is a great idea :D , but then this may happen:

Cheater killed Deuce assisted by Paul,Frank,Bob,Peter,WEIRDALIEN with the shotgun

Or only one assist, also perhaps assist kills count as 0.5 kills(not shown on kill screen) but if you assist twice you get one kill!

Why indicating the names of every players who shot a player ? Keep simply "scarfacemperor killed deuce (smg)", and for players who assisted, also display a message "you assisted deuce's death". Enough to confirm an enemy's death, as the red message in the top left corner of the screen serves as kill-confirm

The score doesn't matter at all for me. It's not like you need a certain amount of XP to unlock a new model of assault rifle.

But it's quite frustating when your kill is stolen by some dueces, y'know.
Also you should add another message, for the killer: Duece asisst you kill deuce

Acknowledgement for hitting the body? Next you will want acknowledgement for hitting the arms and legs, and hell maybe even a 'nearly hit' or 'suppressed' or 'was about to kill' or a 'would have killed if only Deuce had 1 more second'.

No just stick with kills.

I have played CoD, and I think assists in CoD are stupid too. Why the hell are we rewarding people for an "almost" kill? Good job kid, you helped out. Kind of, until that sniper headshotted the guy - turns out you did nothing. A body shot IS a miss. If you failed to get the kill, get over it and get good rookie.

Have you played BF3? They went a step further when they implemented suppression.

The point of assist kills aren't about "Oh boy you almost killed that dude!" It's about helping another person kill someone else. You both get points in return for doing damage on the person you both were aiming for. THINK-HARDER. Nobody is going to ask for notifications on shooting the guy in different limbs, only it says "Deuce1 assisted Deuce2 in killing Deuce" < THAT would always be the case if 2 people killed one guy. Almost like 2 stones killed 1 bird. xD

Right, I guess we should give points for placing blocks too because you are helping your team. And for destroying blocks too because enemies could hide behind them!! When I build a bridge that should be worth at least 50 points I think.

Assists are useless, there is no way to detect who actually helped with a kill, so no point in doing it.

You're really getting on my nerves. It says KILL ASSISTS. Not BLOCK ASSISTS. Call of Duty has a way of detecting who actually helped with a kill so wisen up. This is about kills not about building. I just solved it and you manipulated my words into something else.

Oh? So kills are more important to the team than building? That's ridiculous! Destroying a player's cover does a lot more to ASSIST than shooting them in the arm (the vast majority of kills are semi headshots afterall, so any shot that doesn't kill the player is essentially useless and not assisting).

You may be saying "I only want points for when I shoot them but don't kill", but as I already pointed out and even showed a video for, the idea can be extended. The score board is for kills, not almost kills. Sure you get a few points for an intel capture, but that is a minor part.

"Deuce killed Derp (headshot) because Foo destroyed Derp's cover" <- that would be true assist detection. Too bad it is impossible.

Gormans right, in aos its hard to tell if they actually helped with the kill when 3(often 4 depending on the server) of the weapons easily one hit enemys and the last one deals 75 damage with head shots.

I agree with Gorman, you can tell if a guy is dead either by looking at the killfeed (or whatever its called) and seeing if some guy was just shot, or if you are playing this game as its supposed to be played, communicating. i.e. 'did you get the guy on the hill in B6' or whatever. It sounds silly i know, but when you are on a team with loads of guys TEAM PLAYING, it works.
Like Gorman said, teamplaying is more important than getting points for almost killing someone.

When ever you assist someone it should add .5 points to your score so like
Ex:
Internet killed HackerNoobxD
NOOB5231 killed Internet
You assisted NOOB5231 to kill Internet* +.5

Score =
1.5

Also it should only show the a random person from who assisted that person/peoples.

Nice idea. I think I'll make a topic about it.
