Block Assists

Postby Sniper101 » Sat Apr 28, 2012 5:59 am

People should be rewarded for block assisting. For example, if you help a buddy in building a fort, you would get some points.

This would encourage team-work greatly.

Yup, you should get 1 point for placing a block, and also 1 point for destroying a block (eg enemy cover).

Bridges should be worth 10 points at least.

This is a good idea, but I have no idea how this could work without being Op. And how would the game know that you built a bridge? :S.

By using advanced bridge detection algorithms. They are pretty simple really, it is just a matter of pattern matching and path finding in conjunction with fuzzy logic and a learning agent.

Could you please translate that in English. Not everyone here talks IT language.

So I'd get points by building flags, names, useless forts in the corner of the map?

nope

Then how would the algorithm judge if the building is useful?

I don't see this working out propely, incredibly difficult to implement logicly and fairly. Perhaps if you didn't get points but something else, e.g. build assist point.

Is there any way, like, if the enemy is behind a block, and you break the blocks but someone else kills the enemy that was behind the cover in less than 2 seconds, is there a way to detect if the enemy was behind the block that just broke and award an assist point to who destroyed the blocks?

We are here because the Universe offers conditions so life can evolve,to the point where(at least one)species,in a small planet around a star lost between millions of galaxies,is able to ask itself:What was my origin? (M. Gleiser)

Basically any piece of land connecting two other pieces of land would give you a point.

But what would happen if I just kept spamming blocks? Only a human could tell whether or not whatever someone's building is actually useful.

Maybe the ray that came from the gun would pass through the block. If it happens to hit a friendly player, you earn one point assuming you're the one who built the block.

It would change something. It would give some sort of recognition for the players who build for the team.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.
