Alright before you start going crazy and saying "NO NO NO" think, if the lighting engine was updated to have darker shades in closed areas: Tunnels, sewers, Buildings. You are in a sewer. You can't see anything. the enemy is right infront of you but you can't see his name/body. *presses F* *CLICK* *BANG BANG BANG* Dead.

Good side of a flashlight: Helps in darker places to see, and would be a good tactical ambush type thing when not turned on in a tunnel or sewer.
Bad side of a flashlight: It will increase the numbers of campers inside of dark areas.

Good side of lights: Helps see in dark areas, and could be destroyed to regain the light and place it back. Maybe hold a button like L and left click when in the blocks menu, you could make some nice structures with lights in em'.

Bad side of lights: Could influence more spamming of random blocks.

Muzzle-Flash: Idea by Diggy. Might look cool, but could cause performance problems along with the flashlight. Your choice!

Dark areas where you don't see a great distance ahead would also influence the use of a shotgun. (No more bright tunnels (except for lights) to let you snipe from the fog at people!)

Also flashlights give off a glare, so when you look into a flashlight you will see a bright flash on your screen.

Created a poll for the community.

NOTE: Don't just go NO NO NONONONO, give me a reason for why you don't want them. If you fail to do so, you shall be ignored, and your vote won't count in my opinion.

NOTE 2: Don't just go YES YES YESSESES Either. Gotta put some good information on why you want it.

Note 3: Be nice, if I see flaming, and hatred going on I'm going to request a lock. If you flame and spam for just that reason you will be man handled by staff.

This would be nice. it wouldn't increase camping in darker areas b/c at the moment, no dark area is too dark to see, even if you are completely closed in. think how scary tunnel runs would be with darkness surrounding you and a dim cone of light in front of you. making complete darkness underground would also make muzzle flash cooler.
I don't see why more people don't makes forts. even if not useful, they're a lot of fun

I would like a bettet lighting system if it didnt lag the game. As far as flashlights are concerned I think this could balance the guns, it would allow the shotgun and smg to thrive in dark places. No to muzzle flashes in the fear that they would not work with mods.

Muzzle-Flash would work with mods. All it does is create a flash of light in darkness when a gun is shot. Mods only change the skin of a gun, so you don't need to worry.

the lighting in this game is kinda dodgey and it gets at maximum darkness after a certain amount of thickness in blocks has been put on a wall... kind just calculates shadows and makes them darker as if the blocks were only on a 10% opacity or so. Well htats what it apears to be to me, sometimes im digging a tunell and another tunell is being dug next to me so mine starts liting up =\

I wold agree to lighting to make tunneling harder but no to muzzle flash. Every image in game,even tracers has its separate kv6. In order to have muzzle flash, you'd need 3 more kv6 for guns with muzzle flash and guns without muzzle flash. That just makes modding a lot harder, since you would need to mod both kv6's to actually get the modded gun image properly in game.

What if the Muzzle Flash is coded to automaticly appear at the last voxel of the game?

I don't know about muzzle flashes, they would probably end up being annoying to look at.

what if there is simply a special block you place at the end of the gun to flash?
itd be very easy to do that probably

What do you mean, the flash image? It will only be a single voxel placed at the end of the gun.

yeah,so we can have a flash kv6 that we model

so it the very center is the flash block,then you model the flash around that

The muzzle flash is basicly a red/yellow particle that comes out of a weapon creating a flash of yellowy light. Or just white light.

EDIT: Poll reset, I added a new option so it reset the answers. Forum suggestion on poll needs to be made.
