Mid range/ Burst Fire support class?

So what if the SMG is modelled after the MP5?
I've seen plenty of use of the SMG being used pretty effectively for mid-range combat. I personally use the SMG much more at mid range than close range, and don't do too badly at it, usually dying to riflemen who were too far to reliably hit.

I do support more classes though.
