Hey guys,

(Yes I know, I make many threads, but the suggestions page is an obsession of mine)

The DNSL was made to stop people repeating the same suggestions, to a fair extent now it works. People have been asking however where they should be posting their opinions of different weapons, without making a new thread.

Well to avoid "Suggestion Opinions" spam....Iv made this megathread.

Please if you have ANY opinion of the weapons below, POST! and tell us what you think,

- How would it effect gameplay?

- Pro's and con's?

- Suggested weapon statistics

Etc.

- Sidearm: Only useful for players who have bad ammo management. Will either be imba or useless trash.

- Sniper rifle: Plays EXACTLY the same as the semi.

- Assult rifle: So long as it is burst fire (enough to destroy a block in 1 burst) this would be acceptable.

- Grenade launcher: Ultimate griefer gun? Would have to be a secondary rather than primary.

- Rocket launchers: Again, a secondary, replacing 3 grenades with a 2 shot LAW would be very interesting.

- Knives: Useless trash, we have shovel, don't ever want something that does the exact same thing.

- Heavy machine guns: Would this be an imbaSMG clone? Or would you have to stand still to fire? Standing still means being an easy target...

- Automated turrets: The idea of moving the game in a traps and engineering direction is a very differenet discussion.

- Manned turrets: As with HMG, standing still just makes you a free kill.

- Explosives: Vague name get...

- Mortars: Perhaps useful, but how would we acquire such a thing?

- Artillary: Artillary should replace airstrike.

- Sidearm: I'm not sure about this one, I wouldn't mind particularly, although most of the time it'll just be sitting there, useless.

- Sniper rifle: Adding what's already here, the rifle.

- Assault rifle: Something like the M16 would be nice, something between the SMG and Rifle with burst fire

- Grenade launcher: No. Just no. We can throw nades far enough as it is, no noob tubes

- Rocket launchers: Perhaps, but there HAS to be drawbacks like slower movement, long draw time and some inaccuracy, otherwise you'll have people blowing EVERYTHING and EVERYONE up

- Knives: SPADE

- Heavy machine guns: Perhaps. It WILL add some diversity to strategies and play in to the slow pace of the game, depending on how it's added.

- Automated turrets: Hmm, I'm not a fan. Why have a bot do something that the players are, especially with so many people on a team at a time?

- Manned turrets: Seems similar to the HMG, so same comment as above

- Explosives: C4? Claymore? If it were any of these, I don't think I'd like it.

- Mortars: Interesting, maybe? For that longer range nade without it being like a noob tube.

- Artillery: Again, interesting. Replace airstrike? (well airstrike isn't even part of the game, it's just Pyspades script)

HMG: I'd really prefer it to be mount on block only with a very long reload [maybe 2~3 times the smg]. With say 125 round clips and 375 spare focusing less on killing, more on breaking enemy forts. For instance...

Seeing green having a large fortified structure on the center of the map which is dominating any attempts to advance, deuce 1 picks the HMG prior to spawning and has 14 follow him to a position green has trouble seeing. From there, they quickly build a one man earth coloured bunker facing the fort, deuce 1 mounts and waits for blue to begin another attack. Now, with surprise on his side, 1 lays a massive wall of suppressing fire down on any occupied green firing slit. Blue reaches the bunker and rapidly captures it, completely changing momentum of the game and giving blue a decided advantage.


Others I don't particularly care for, outside of mortar which has been discussed to death.

- Sidearm
A weak pistol which you could choose instead of grenades
- Sniper rifle
A more effective zoom and pinpoint accuracy for one hit kill headshots
- Assault rifle
I'd prefer one with burst fire instead of a fully auto
- Grenade launcher
A choice between pistol and normal nades
- Rocket launchers
Either this or the grenade launcer above, personaly I'd prefer this
- Knives
Spade functions as melee and throwing knives are silly
- Heavy machine guns
Nah
- Automated turrets
Nah
- Manned turrets
Nah
- Explosives
A bigger explosive which you have to go and place, then run like hell to not get blown up by it would be cool
- Mortars
I don't know
- Artillary
Seems like airstrike replacing thingy

- Sidearm:i think could be useful if you run out of ammo,but i can tell a lot of people arent going to like it.

- Sniper rifle: semi+custom kv6=sniper rifle

- Assult rifle: if its burst fire then i say we should have it.

- Grenade launcher: useful,but also gonna be spammed alot,and constantly whined about.

- Rocket launchers:this i think we need,3 rockets at the most id say.

- Knives: ok not a requirement,but it would be nice,but since the spade can already do melee damage,i dont care really

- Heavy machine guns: i would like these,it could be very useful to keep the enemies pinned down.

- Automated turrets: no no no no i dont think we need sentry guns.

- Manned turrets:yes i would like this alot,but i dont see a place for it ingame

- Explosives: yes,we need more explosives.

- Mortars: id liie mortars,for fire support,but i can see them spawnkilling alot

- Artillary:same as airstrike imo

Sidearm - Acceptable as mentioned above yet pretty unnecessary...

Sniper Rifle - We have the rifle

Assult Rifle - We have SMG

Grenade Launcher - As mentioned above ultimate griefer weapon

Rocket Launcher - Like grenade launcher

Knifes - We have spade which is way cooler

Heavy machine gun - Yes, hell yes. Replace the SMG with HMG. Anyway, the SMG strategy is to stand still and shoot, why not make it heavy MG then?

Automated Turrets - Is this TF? Do we want bots everywhere owning everyone like in TF?

Manned turrets - Could be cool, if placed only by the map maker, not by players for no spam.

Explosives - Naaa

Artillary - Could be cool too, also if placed by the map maker only.

Edited version of the semi.

Assault rifle:
Pretty mush the SMG but you're not holding the mouse button down until the clip runs out.

Grenade launcher:
Why?

Rocket launcher:
Again, why?

Knives:
Just like Alex said, it's called the spade. You can EDIT it to look like a knife.

Heavy machine guns:
Overpowered.

Automated turrets:
No.

Manned turrets:
You mean the dude in the tower with the SMG?

Explosives:
Do you even play the game? Grenades.

Mortars:
They're called grenades.

Artillery:
Nukes? [Insert trollface here]

Sidearm- A weaker variant of each weapon, selectable in the same way as any other weapon.
For instance: Rifle - Revolver
Smg - Machine Pistol
Shotgun - Sawn off shotgun

Why not just make a "AoS suggestion megathread" and get rid of the suggestions forum itself? I mean you did that for a fairly large portion of the game already.

A semi-automatic pistol faster than a semi, but slower than SMG. Pretty weak considering it's a sidearm.

- Sniper rifle
Personally would like it, BUT there's already a semi for that.

- Assault rifle
If burst-fire, then why not?

- Grenade launcher
Doesn't seem to have much of a point, UNLESS it's one-shot and nades explode upon contact. THEN it would be fine-ish.

- Rocket launchers
Only if PIAT-esque...Otherwise...Nah.

- Knives
SPADE!

- Heavy machine guns
Only if deployable.

- Automated turrets
Not those times, man...

- Manned turrets
Pointless, IMO.

- Explosives
If plantable, then maybe...

- Mortars
Hmm...Maybe. If stationary.

- Artillery
Replacement for pyspades' airstrike, I suppose...
