Hey guys,

I was watching the news moments ago, and heard the following "during world war 1, the Germans and the alias, would dig tunnels below their trenches in an attempt to cross the no mans land-.." And suddenly I remembered something about the original AoS, the .2's the .3's...

Tunnelling, digging, bunkers, corridors, networks. All underground. We used them to break through the other teams defences. To pop up in the middle of their base in utter stealth. And then I wondered: What changed this?

WHY don't we do this any-more, WHY is tunnelling suddenly not as pivotal to the game? WHY did the importance of tunnelling disappear?

My proposal is this:

We make tunnelling as effective as it once was. Currently you can hear people digging around you and locate them with relative ease, it is neigh impossible to dig efficiently with this feature.

What I suggest is first of all we muffle that sound, make it very very hard to locate diggers by sound. This will make tunnels a heck lot more deadly if they reach completion.

And next-....well that's as far as my line of thinking took me...

But you all know what I mean, you know how the game used to feel. And what changed. So help us out here, post what you think we can change to bring tunnelling back to its original importance.

I haven't been quite a tunnel rat and the only thing what I noticed in the betas was that...my rifle won't work.

I totaly agree with this idea. Stealth would reign once again if this idea got added.

Definitely. Also, muffling the sound would have a ring of truth to it. I think it changed because the majority of these new players aren't that intelligent. You have maybe two smart players for every thirty on a lot of servers. The dumb ones just run, shoot and die. The smart ones are the ones who use the good ole tactics. I especially like doing this on hallway. I carve out bunkers and spawn camp from on high. Bliss.

The problem is autoclimb. Back then people dug tunnels because it was faster and safer.

Problem is, when i hear someone walking while i'm making a tunnel, i stop. Then i look up and it works like a x-ray: he sees me through 1-2 blocks and i see him. He knows where my tunnel is, so blues are just trying to assault me, lol.

That's a problem with VOXLAP. I don't think it's being fixed unless we get a new engine.
