Different models for reload (new suggestion?)

Got a great new idea for the game?

Different models for reload (new suggestion?)

Postby Stiivais » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:27 pm

Well, after making that rant thread i thought that i should shut up, but i had an idea, and not the "nerf x" as we usually get.
Ben should add a separate model for reloading (e.g. semi.kv6 could have semir.kv6).
This model would be displayed when we reload the gun, and would be somehow different from the usual model.
Rifles could have it's bolt pulled back or magazine out (depending on mod you use ^^) and propably sci fi guns could have lights appear in different color (there are some guns with lights, right?). Shotguns could be tilted to the side with the bullet placement thing open etc.

Also: shutting up because i have caused some annoyances lately.

I support this, but it always gets shot down by the lazy modders who complain that they have to make more models.

I would rather have a cycling animation (the bolt moves back and forth) or maybe a shotgun's pump animation.

Just lowering the gun down is a good-enough reload animation.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

just lowering the gun down is kind of lazy for a finished game, a reload animation would be cool. Soldat had a thing where there was a model for the gun, gun without clip, and then clip(or something like that). Soldat also supported modding, and I remember the mods worked pretty well with reloading.

Still, I would rather have a magazine drop from the player. Having the magazine flash out and into the gun is too dull.

What reasoning would they have? Am I incorrect in assuming that since the voxels would involve no actual animation that, if they didn't want to create a reload frame, they could simply replace the reload frame with the normal modded weapon state and life would continue as normal?

That's a good idea

For basic skins, simply the gun without its mag for semi and smg (if semi has an apparent mag, I don't remember) and the shotgun with its pump back.

I remember, that in Soldat you can make client side animations. Would be fantastic in AoS. I made some years ago... We just need a different folder for each weapon.

Ho about also adding a magazine that's dropped whenever the character reloads?

I completely agree with you,
but take into account that these things tend to happen after your patience threshold has been exceeded, when you have seen more than 100 posts like this:
...
Their reasoning is like this: If i want it, then you MUST MAKE IT!
This thread just shows that there is something wrong around here.
And the worst part: there are good ideas on these forums.
There really are. But it is hard to spot them if for every good thread there are about 15 "empty" ones.
And why do we keep getting these duplicates? Why do we get posts about the same ideas over and over and over and over? WHAT CAUSES THIS? And why isn't anything being done? Will anything be done? CAN anything be done?

This post was only made two days ago.....I fail to see a reason why we need to have the game switch models just to "reload" when what we have is fine, especially since voxels cant have animations.
