1. Allow for more than 5 lines of chat at a time. (At least for servers that constantly update you, and you have little room to actually see what others have written.)
2. Like in Minecraft, when you press T to chat, it opens up the previous history so you can see something if you missed it.

Sounds good. I hope you don't mind me adding my own idea to your thread.
3. Local chat: have a button that allows you to send messages that can only be heard by players within a certain distance. This would be useful for talking to close-by teammates without clogging up the main chat.
