Isometric HTML5 Map Renderer

Postby Yourself » Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:58 am

Download: https://www.box.com/s/0b9e408228a433fd5c7b

Note: This will only work on Chrome if it is hosted from a web server due to security restrictions.

To use the program simply browse for a VXL file and open it. Your web browser will freeze for several seconds while the image is rendered and then the image will be displayed.

This is a JavaScript program which loads a vxl file and renders an isometric view of the map. I was making this program to be used for a map repository but it runs too slowly to be used (takes a few seconds to render large maps on my computer...)

Maps can easily reach 500,000+ surface voxels, so it looks like real time rendering is out of the picture for now. Currently everything is 2d and it doesn't use WebGL at all.
I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men.

Try using Firefox. It didn't work for Chrome or IE for me.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

Well, try using Firefox, anyway. I already told yourself that it didn't work for chrome.

This is a very awesome tool! Great job. Do you think you can make this into a small program as well?

I've uploaded it to http://aos.outs.in/render/ if you still haven't been able to get it to work. If you want some webspace of your own, feel free to PM me and we can probably work something out.

This renderer is really, really nice.
