Don't know if you guys knew their is like a whole underground community that still plays text-based games... Here's one of them that I play:
http://ansiart.com/. It's a MUSH or Multi-User Shared Hallucination. Basically it's an RPG where you can do what ever you want in the city (or outskirts). There is a built-in programming language so you can create objects that do neat stuff. There are puzzles, people make art (ASCII and ANSI art), people chat with others. The community for me feels like a family almost. Everyone is tightly knit and it can be hilarious talking to some people. Over all I have a fun time on it even though it's only text. I'd like to help anyone who joins so in game my name is "Sam" or you could PM me here.
Edit: Forgot the name of the game: "8BitMUSH". It's got a slight 8Bit/NES theme to it. Nobody is forced to follow it though...
