Here's my bit...

There ought to be two different kinds of crates for each set.
(e.g. Large Ammo Crate, Small Ammo Crate, ...etc)
The small crate would be enough to supply a soldier's portion.
The large crate would be able to supply a handful of soldiers.

Now, for spawning. Perhaps, the server controller can decide if it is appropriate to have auto-spawned crates or player-spawned crates. So, along with team colors, respawn time, and game type; it could be determined whether crates will be spawned automatically or spawned by players.

For the Auto-spawn crates option, there should be a predetermined time when a crate would be released. Longer times for Large Crates to appear. Perhaps a random timer with a certain minimum time limit?

For the Player-spawn crates option, there should be a cool-down/recharge time, but that time can be shortened with consecutive kills (e.g. 3 kills -3sec, 5 kills -9sec, etc...?) . Large crates would take longer to recharge.

I also like how some people have the idea to use the type of weapon the player uses to determine the drop type.

I think crates drop shouldnt be random but teamwork encouraging. You can make stationary positions that when a player walks into he can control the supply drops for his team (of course he will be limited, he wont drop 10000 medkits on the whole map). You can either place one in every spawn, or in key points at the map, if so, it will also require players to defend the supplying player.

I'm guessing these crates could be deployed by certain people according to certain classes. So, when you're starting you game, you can also choose a choice between a health or ammo crate along with your weapon of choice. Or, for balancing reasons, you can buy crates for points if there is going to be a point system integrated into the game. Maybe, these crates can be founded randomly around any map.
These crates will spawn randomly around the map and last for a set duration. Adding customization options to certain servers can allow for different style of play. Duration could be set to infinite, and maybe crates could be mined and brought along. Crates can supply a certain amount of health/ammunition before server no use. Different sizes of these crates can serve different roles, a small crate may be brought quickly to the front line but be limited in use. While larger crates may supply more soldiers for a longer period of time, but may hinder your movement speed. This offers balance in the game play but still may require testing for balancing reasons.

Maybe we can get like 1 per person when we spawn and when someone goes over It they can get more ammo/health.

Here's my idea, i dont know if anyone else had posted this or not, but this what im thinking:
every so many kills /a gives you an airstrike,
BUT WHAT IF
instead of JUST having the option of a /a airstrike, you could /s (s=supplies) and get an ammo crate dropped on your position, coded like a CP so your team can all get health and ammo for it, therefore you can do about the same amount of work from an airstrike, and still keep your troop on the front. It makes enough sense to me.

Pointless, When you get an Airstrike all your Health/Ammo goes back to normal.

if it was a Intel cap reward, your already by the do when you cap it so if the fixed location was near the cp witch you would want it to be so you could use it after caping the intel you could just use the cp. I think it could be like a 25 kill streak, you would need it for more bullets if your sniping. It could be just like airstrike where the number of kills need to achieve a rainstorms is unique for each server.

Personally I think that the crates should spawn somewhere near the spawn, they could then be picked up by a player and carried to a position where they would be beneficial. The crates should contain 150 rifle cartridges, 100 shotgun shells, and 1000 SMG bullets as well as 5 grenades. This would prevent them from being too overpowered by requiring that players keep their bases supplied. The crates should also explode when they are shot in an explosion about 2-3 times more powerful than a grenade. Thus, a player would have to protect the ammo crates to prevent their bases from exploding. The crates could also be used like kegs of gunpowder, to blow holes in walls, or as traps for the intel. I feel that the crate should have an open top, with ammo spilling out of it and the NATO symbol on the side.

I think an idea to get health and ammo crates should work like this. If a player where to kill an enemy or do something he/she should be given a smoke grenade. When he/she throws it a helicopter will drop down and leave a crate. Depending on the color of the flare/grenade decided what it should get. Red flares are for health and green are for ammo. Also another idea is that the helicopter could drop ammo and maybe a plane could drop health. And the helicopter can be destroyed by the enemy if not careful. Another cool thing is that when the helicopter lands on the ground players can hop in and the helicopter will give then a lift to the tent. However the helicopter can fit only 2 - 4 passengers and players cannot drive it. So there is my idea on how to earn it ammo and health.
