A Very Important Subject...

For all things AoS!

Pirated version Cough Cough*

No I don't want to pay for Aos if it stays with 3 guns and , and... you knew what I mean nothing more as 3 weapons.
Even if it got some new additions I'm sure they are not that big to pay cause aos is so slowly going forward... I "knew" thousand of games that are for pay cod , css , bf and etc. and "people" play it online. So im totally sure he will not get much money from aos.
If Ben think of making profit just cause he boost aos with open gl(mat^2's open gl) he is on thin ice. A game cant be a "pay 2 play" if it got 3 guns and nothing really nothing more that is retarded. I love aos but I will never and I really mean never pay for it I rather buy BF or boost my pc or go eat ice-cream and watch South park.
AoS The worst game with the greatest potential .

I can't pay for it until I'm old enough. (18) And my parents wouldn't either. Looks like my dreams of having a FPS shooter I could enjoy everyday are ruined. Time to go back to playing my pirated version of Minecraft and have my soul trapped in a fire of sorrow. But for the sake of arguement, Pay 2 Play? NEVAR. One time payment? Sounds OK, if it was 5-1$. Besides, nobody knows if you would have to pay in the future. If anything, it originated from a player who thought it would. I just hope my dreams aren't crushed. OR WE COULD HAVE A FREE 0.99 VERSION OF THE GAME >:D. Heh. I would like a free server list and a payed player list. Time trials stink btw.

Well, last night I went onto the Ace of Spades Mumble and talked to Ben about it. Of course, the answer is that Ace of Spades will begin to cost money in the mere 1.0 version, when Ace of Spades goes commercial. Of course, all we want it a fun game community. We don't need commercial to gain people. :c

I think there is a simple solution for this:
Microtransactions.

You get the game for free, but extra features cost $$$. Most free-to-play games do this, team fortress 2, league of legends, combat arms. They all use micro-transactions. Be it for getting better guns, better servers or more game modes. I think this is the way to go.

Basically you get the game for free, then you pay for the extra features you want. You want to go on the premium servers, pay $1. Want the beefed up version of the rifle? Pay $1. Want that awesome game mode? Pay $1.

Oh God please no, no microtransactions. Stuff like that really turns me off from a game. I'd rather pay $10 and be on a level playing field than have to deal with divisions on the playerbase based upon how much money someone has spent.

It doesn't have to be anything game-changing though. Maybe you buy the ability to have custom skins, or premium servers.

Or game modes and such.

EDIT:

I play a game with micro-transactions. Basically its set up so that if you pay more, you pwn more. But the fact is, lots of people don't do that. They only spend tiny amounts of money on the game because they know if they spend to much, it's not fun anymore. Even with people who do pay a ton of money and get all the good guns at the start of the game, I can still beat a lot of them :D

Custom skins? We can already customize everything and Ben would start a forest fire of a flame war if he took away our ability to do that?

Premium Servers? Who would want to have to deal with the Deuces who never bought the game? No one would make their server non-premium.

Maybe it could be like Minecraft. MC has Classic, which is just an older version of the game that you can play for free. Then there's the main, still developed version that you have to buy.
Pros:
*People might find the game, play the old version, and want to buy the full one
*People who don't want to pay still get to play
Cons:
*Lots of people won't buy the full one because there's the free one

or it could STAY FREE, and have ben just put ads on the forums and whatnot. that way he MAKES MONEY, and allows us TO HAVE FUN WITH THE FREE GAME.

Personally I have no problem at all paying for this game. I spend a few hours every day playing Ace of Spades.
And poor Ben needs to get payed somehow, i would most definitely not work full-time without getting payed.

And come on, even if you don't have a job, how hard can it be to get 10-20$? just clean you house, wash the car, move the lawn. it shouldn't be that hard :)

And remember, nothing in this world is free ;)

This. When I was young I could earn money by cutting the grass. And if the parent's won't pay, you can probably find someone who will. To be fair though, I'm sure part of the issue is that it has to be bought online. Some parents probably won't be willing to buy something online, and would rather buy it at a store. But it's a sad fact that people have to face: many great games today can only be purchased online. If you can't purchase online, then you've probably missed out on some great indie titles. AoS is no different.

By custom skins I mean skins unique skins for yourself.

And premium servers would be run by SoCA
