This is why we can't have nice things

For all things AoS!

This is why we can't have nice things

Postby Articsledder » Sat Apr 28, 2012 3:37 pm

Ok, let's face it, teamwork has already reached it's max in AoS. With the number of little kids/casuals that play the game now, we will not see any in crease of teamwork. It would just take too much work to get an efficiently working team. An efficient team with teamwork would have different people doing different jobs. Some build, some defend, and some attack, and some support. But right now everyone wants too do 2 jobs, Attack and build. So basically I feel were not going to see any increase in teamwork unless we devise a way too give people specific jobs without putting in a rigid class system.

Anyone have any thoughts/ideas on how we could do this?

Edit: Derp, thought this was the suggestions section. Can someone move this?

I really dont know, but the AoS registration thing could fix the number of casuals and kids playing. Unfortunately, a large number of players would cease to play. I remember that when i was small, i never went near anything I had to sign up for. Other kids might be the same, even at my age.

I don't really enjoy going all try hard unless I'm playing @ or with my clan members. For me, it kind of feels weird making callouts in such a casual suited game.

well it appears that you are reffering to the babel game mode (which i still dont know if it is aprt of AoS or pyspades) and it always apears that one team has a few peope working together enough to function and the other one is a flying piece of shit... literly just wandering around not killing nor building. It pisses me off so much! Of course, i try to organize the team to the best of my abilities, but they dont want to cooperate and i think that little kids are the problem, because who else works so slowly that i will go out to the other side for 8 minutes to knock down the enemy tower, come back and see that we have made no progress? Who else has so little sense as to not know that when our towers are not going up and arent going down because they arent worth the time that they obviously need to do something? I also agree that making you have to register to play the game will get many kids away because i also stayed away from things that required registers when i was 12 even. Maybe with the new launcher comming up, you will have to log in before the launcer allows you to play the game itself.

It's not because of kids. I've heard grown, damn adults act like children in FPS's, there's nothing you can do to stop it. The best you can do is add things that promote teamwork, and hope that, maybe, someone will help out their team. It's impossible to make everyone on a team all do their job, this is the internet after all.

There was a thread I posted in somewhere (forgot where it was) where the topic poster and I basicly aggreed that this game needs a points system where points are given to players who cooperate with one another. This would require higher-ranking 'points-masters' around to give points though, maybe server admins could give teamwork points to players?

Dont forget the amount of griefers and hackers, we all encounter them when we play AOS.

REWARD POINTS FOR TEAMWORK
USE POINTS TO BUY CUSTOM SKINS
you need to get something rewarding that'll help you forever when using teamwork, and that doesn't dissappear after playtime is over. also add polish and brazilian translations

Rewarding points for teamwork would be good, but how would the game judge teamwork?

I think it might work if we make it impossible to win without working together. Seems to work in TOW, I just don't know how it would translate to CTF, which seems to have the most issues.
