AoS registration system

Postby danhezee » Sun Apr 15, 2012 12:21 am

The time has come for user registration. The idea is to create a system so you will only need one login for the forums and ign.

Pros:
Less confusion in game. It will be harder for people to pose as trusted members of the community in game.
Ban evasion would be more difficult.
Open the door for achievements and stats.

Cons:
New players would have to register before they can join a server.

Hey Dan,

I few interesting things to think about,

- This would make acc hacking way more serious, not only would their forum acc be at risk, their game stats, their ability to play the game if we don't allow multiple acc's, etc.

- I feel being banned would have more of an impact, especially a perma, you'd loose all your forum posts, your in game stats. Everything.

So on the whole, I still think Acc registration would be a big plus.

In my opinion, Registrations should be an option. A user that does not register will enter the game as a guest (traditionally I would call them Deuce#). Registrations would hopefully increase the number of people who attend the forums. By registering, you also get to make an ign, which you could change later. One may not chose an ign which is already a forum name or is already being used by someone else.

Clantags may also be implemented. If your usergroup is anything else other than "Member", it will be added as a prefix to your ign.

EDIT: I don't think any statistics should be registered for each member. Or, maybe the game should only record your statistics in the last 7 days. There should be an option while setting up a server that prevents the recording of statistics.
To a Physicist, white and black is the presence and absence of color.
To a Fine Artist, white and black are just shades and tints of color.
To a Painter, any paint that you could get into a can is a color.
THIS color, on the other hand, is #b4d455.

There should be a option for clans with clan tags too.

There is no reason to believe a ban in game would automatically result in a forum ban and vice versa.

This would fit in nicely with bcoolface's idea for in-game voice comm.

Hello,

this would be the beginning of nice servers with moderation system and such. I see people fakeing my names ... also, every good online game MUST have registrations.

Think I already know the answer to this, but, would you be able to freely edit your ign after registration?

I expect no, but if you can't I really don't want a registration system.

I agree, there's something unique about being able to change your IGN, even though its somewhat trivial. It would nice to continue to be able to change IGN but also have a static ID number that can be banned, linked to forum account, etc. If names are locked in, then there wouldn't be any way to change one's clan tag.

Either way, its great to see AoS getting components that allow it to compete with bigger games.

achievements and stats.

Do not want, promotes cheating. I don't know how good bot and general cheating -detection is, but if it detects all bots & hacks it's all good.

Oh absolutely not, but im saying the idea of a perma ban, community wide. Would have more of an impact. Even if they evade it, they have lost posts, all heir in game stats etc.

I do like the sound of this. gives a bit more of a threat because its blocking a lot more then just the game. the only loophole I see is that they may not be lazy and just make another account. Still, most hackers are lazy.
