The most peculiar thing happened to me....

Ok, so I would like the admins from all over to help answer... What the heck do I do in this situation?!

Let me explain. I'm admining azn_gamer's new server. Tonight uncovered something ridiculously startling, and if someone was in fact doing this, we could have a serious problem. I'm in game, helping build a house, and suddenly, grenades blow holes all over.... nothing new. I look for the griefer, can't find him. Nothing new. I griefcheck every player in the game. nothing including any blocks placed by a player, all removed mapblocks. Then, the rest of the house comes crashing down. I was the only admin in game at this point, and it looked exactly like someone invisible just shoveled the remaining blocks on the house. There is no record of the person ever entering the game, because I griefchecked everyone and no-one shows up as entering in IRC, there was nothing in IRC regarding anyone other than me entering invisibility, and it looked like the blocks just removed themselves. Is this a weird lag-created phenomenon that occurred over 45 seconds? I don't think so, I was typing things and the server was broadcasting them. How do you get into the server without IRC saying "<name> entered the game"? This is an odd situation, and if a person can do this a free will, this could be bad. Please tell me I'm overlooking something. Let me know what you think :D

Could be one of those "Writing Mods" where you can delete blocks by erasing them with a type of map editor. I couldn't tell you an exact interface but thats the gist of it. If you were the only person in the server then I would be worried. Otherwise somone could be "Macroing" and using the hack at the same time.

My hack does something similar to that, it allows teleportation to players without being detected, you could use it for grief in that manner.

But if you are the only person in the server then things get more complex. The server won't accept move/grenade/etc packets from players who are not connected - at least it shouldn't!

From what you said about the grenades, there used to be an infinite grenade hack. As for the invincibility, I have no idea.

Not invincibility, invisibility, but this person wasn't an admin.... and IRC had no records of anyone entering invisibility other than me to figure out what was going on. I'm assuming they probably got around IRC :D Just startled the heck out of me when I watched blocks get shoveled out by someone invisible who shouldn't be invisible :D

Asked around the more "hack-savvy" community members, no one has a clue how that could be done. I'm as stumped as you are.

It should not be possible to circumnavigate the logs. The only was to destroy blocks is with shovel, grenade and gun.

I am not sure how griefecheck works, but if there are any of those not recorded then you can assume that is what they did.
