Welcome all to the 1st annual Hunger Games!

"Each year, the Capitol assembles its Gamemakers to create an elaborate arena filled with deadly trigger points and calls upon one girl and one boy from each of the twelve Districts to play in its nationally televised Hunger Games. On the Day of Reaping, 24 children between the ages of 12 and 18 are selected to fight to the death in a futuristic arena. The Games end when there is only one person standing. The Victor will be showered with fame and glory as well as bring a year's supply of food back to his/her district. He/she will be financially set for the rest of his/her life. "

Rules and Regulations

Rules of The Survival Games:
Only one player can win The Survival Games.
You can not break any blocks or place, expect for leaves
Your inventory must be empty before you start the game.
No player is allowed to enter the host house. (House at the Cornucopia)
There is a set boundary that you are not allowed to cross.
Only Two People may be in a district.
You may ONLY use Minecraft's in game chat during the game.
Only these items are Breakable/Placeable are:

Fire (Flint and Steel)
Lava (Buckets)
Torches
Water (Buckets)
Seeds of all kinds
Mushrooms
Melons
Pumpkins
Chests

Terms Used

Tribute- A participant in The Hunger Games.

GameMaker- A person who plans and controls the Hunger Games.

Career- Career Tributes, commonly known simply as Careers, are Hunger Games tributes who train throughout their lives to be in the Games and then volunteer to participate. Typically, the Careers come from the wealthier districts, 1, 2, and 4, where being a tribute is seen as a great honor.

Alliance- Alliances are an important aspect of the Games, as tributes ensure their survival by having allies watch their back in the arena. Alliances generally break apart near the end of the Games so the members are not forced to kill each other after. A common alliance in the Games is the one between the Career Tributes of districts 1, 2 and 4 who work together to take down every other tributes until their alliance is all that remains, and then they rip each other apart, much to the pleasure of the Capitol. Alliances are most often formed between tributes that are from the same district.

Panem- The nation of Panem was established during an unknown time period following the destruction of modern civilization. It is situated primarily on the western side of North America, and the Capitol is located in an area formerly known as the Rocky Mountains.
Panem was run by a single-party dictatorship that is led by President Snow. It is portrayed in the trilogy to be the dominant society in North America, and no other nations or civilized societies beyond Panem have been mentioned, so it is unknown if any exist at all. The name Panem derives from the Latin phrase panem et circenses, which literally translates into 'bread and circuses'. The phrase itself is used to describe entertainment used to distract public attention from more important matters. Furthermore, by the government providing ample food and entertainment, the citizens would give up their political rights. In Panem, the rules were harshly enforced. After The Dark Days, a cruel game known as The Hunger Games was invented.

The Capitol- The biggest city in Panem and serves as the nation's central seat of government. It is located in an area formerly known as the Rocky Mountains and is surrounded by the twelve (formerly thirteen) outlying districts. The free residents of the Capitol are generally considered the wealthiest (and most decadent) of all Panem, and the city's prosperity is fueled by the industries and forced labor of the districts beyond. While it is a major territory, it is not considered one of the twleve districts. The people are most known for their "creative" outfits, and crazy sense of fashion, even to the extent of dying the color of their own skin, or even having whiskers implanted. President Snow leads Panem.

District- The nation of Panem is separated into a total of twelve nation-states known as districts, each being solely responsible for producing, procuring, or refining goods in a particular industry as dictated by the Capitol. All of the districts are subject to the unrelenting will of the authoritarian Capitol, and have no known influence concerning the national politics of Panem beyond their own individual territories.

The Hunger Games- The Capitol established the Hunger Games, an annual event in which twenty-four children between the ages of twelve and eighteen, one boy and one girl from each district, are chosen from a lottery and entered into a gladitorial competition where they must fight each other to the death until only one remains standing.

Cornucopia- A giant golden horn overflowing with weapons and supplies, which is the center of the bloodbath, the opening fight in the Games.



Districts

District One
District 1 is one of the twelve districts of Panem. Its industry is making luxury items for the Capitol. Due to the nature of its industry, it's considered the wealthiest district, the only other wealthier area being the Capitol itself. It is considered a career district. Little else is known about this district.

District Two
District 2's seal depicts a block of stone and carving tools. The district's public presentation is that of stone quarries, but it also manufactures weaponry, makes trains, and supplies Peacekeepers. The main military complex in the district is known as The Nut. Citizens of District 2 are sometimes called "the pets" of the Capitol. They are the biggest supporters of the Capitol and therefore are pampered and given many extra conveniences. It is a Career District.

District Three
District 3's primary industry is general electronics of many types, though it is known for also making various mechanical products such as automobiles and firearms. Thus, many of its residents are technically apt. It is not considered a career district, though District 4 is.

District Four
District 4's industry is fishing, thus most residents have experience using nets and tridents, making fishhooks from scratch, swimming, and identifying edible sea life. It is considered a Career district.

District Five
This district's industry is power (Electricity). It is not a Career District.

District Six
This district's industry is transportation. It is not a Career District.

District Seven
District 7's industry is lumber and many of its residents have experience with hatchets, axes, saws, and other tree cutting tools. Also, Katniss notes that this district's children begin work at an early age so while they are not a Career District, they are still trained with "weapons".

District Eight
District 8's principal industry is the production of textiles, and they have at least one factory that is primarily used for making Peacekeeper uniforms. It is not a Career District.

District Nine
District 9's industry is grain. Little is known about this district. It is not a Career District.

District 10
Livestock is District 10's industry. Not much is known about this district, but some known information is that its marriage rituals are similar to that of District 4's. It is not a Career District.

District 11
District 11's industry is agriculture - orchards and fields of grain and cotton surround the district. Almost everything grown is shipped directly to the Capitol. It is one of the poorest districts in Panem, second only to District 12. In addition, it is also one of the districts where the Peacekeepers are the strictest. Ironically, this directly results in its residents generally being malnourished and underfed despite its focus on agriculture. District 11 is located somewhere in the south and is quite large. It is not a Career District.

District 12
District 12 is located somewhere near what was the Appalachian mountains. Its chief industry is coal mining. The district has the distinction of being one of the poorest districts, if not the outright poorest, in all of Panem. The district has not had a winner of The Games emerge from the ranks of its residents for twenty-four years since Haymitch Abernathy, a raging alcoholic and an embarrassment to the district, won the 50th Annual Games. Before Haymitch, there was only one other victor from District 12, from an unspecified number of years previous. District 12 is the laughing stock of Panem. It is not a Career District.

Tips/ Hints

This section is pretty important even if you've seen the movie or read the books.

1st off, in the very beginning before the games you will be asked to type "/games Volunteer" which will spawn you into a hole to wait for the other 23 tributes to be placed. Once all 24 tributes are settled and ready, the platform will rise showing the arena. But don't leave yet! In front of you will be a pressure plate which will blow up, killing you. Remember, once you die, that's it! The games are over for you.

In a few second you'll see a message at the bottom of the screen which says "The Hunger Games have begun!" as well as the pressure plates disappearing and the Cornucopia appearing infront of you. Now you have 2 options here. You could either run to the Cornucopia to get weapons and supplies or you could run away. If you choose to go to the Cornucopia you'll quickly find out why the beginning is called the blood bath. With All the tributes running toward the Cornucopia, there are bound to be multiple deaths at the very beginning. To collect items hit the bedrock underneath them. Be careful not to be attacked while collecting and don't be greedy. Now that you've got what you need, its time to disappear into the forest to plan your next move.

Notice that you can craft any item, destroy but not place wood/ wooden planks and that there are no aggressive mobs that will naturally spawn (On the second day Game Makers can place them as they please). When a tribute dies a cannon will sound. Try to keep track of how many are left. If you sneak behind a wall your name will appear invisible. When you use Minecraft's in game chat only tributes within 25 blocks of you will be able to see it appear on their chat windows. Use this to your advantage. Also, Closing your client or disconnecting will count as you dying. It is recommended you close all programs and make sure you have a decent connection BEFORE joining the server.

Now time for the actual strategies.

Alliance: Team up with about 3 other people. Set up a base camp with a chest to store all your items. The person you trust the most should stay behind and guard the stuff while the other 3 go out and hunt down tributes. Just remember that only one person can win so you'll have to kill them sooner or later.

Wait it out: It is suggested you run from the Cornucopia with this strategy. After running, hunt enough food for about 3 minecraft days and then find a nice hiding spot (Best hiding spots are crevices and caves in mountains). Wait for all the other tributes to kill each other off. On the 4th or 5th day go out, fully refreshed with unused supplies to dominate the remaining competition.

Stalker: Play the hunger games using any strategy but when you find a tribute instead of immediately challenging them, follow them back to their camp, find out where they hide their items and then ambush. A great way to get supplies without the hassle of finding them yourself.

Trap and Bait: Set up a simple trap such as TNT pressure plates or bait people into open areas with empty chests.

Rambo: Simply wander around killing anyone in your path. Not the best strategy but sadly the most popular.

xXxChaosxXx (sadly I asked a friend of mine when I was dropping by his home to put Chaos as my username, because I had no internet connection, wanted to use the gift code already and wanted to play, so I asked him to put Chaos, ChaosTLW or some variant, and when I returned from the bathroom, this was the username :c )

EDIT: Errr, btw, does it have a set view distance? Because there are people whitout good computers that cant e.g run beyond normal (I myself am like that), so it would be unfair if someone was using Far view distance while someone else uses Short or Tiny.

Any render distance is fine. If your computer cannot run far render distances you could

a) Install the Optifine mod.
b) Download a low resolution texture pack. 1 2 Google it
c) Follow the instructions in THIS youtube video (Windows only)

If all that fails it looks like you're a tribute with bad eyesight ;)

We don't know because the map isn't finished yet. (We're editing a custom map that will be kept secret until the Games)
