At least the intel tower dosnt need supervision

But still, great imaginative idea, it's the first I've heard of it

I usually go into my tunnel, then dig up and jump out, then place a single block over then chute, so if the enemy team starts getting close, i run over, take the block out. Replace it above my head, and im good to go.

Towers and bunkers both need supervision if competent players are trying to get at them...

I do get bored sitting down there so I keep digging a wider and wider space. My idea was that people digging in the side would be exposed earlier, but the drawback was that I had more area to cover and so it was easier to get snuck up on or lose someone. A large bunker really needs several players to defend it - unfortunately the average AoS player doesn't seem interested in stopping by the intel to see how it's doing very often

That's why you keep changing sides. The design is meant to keep your location secretive. Unless... you accidently come upon the guard while digging for the intel...

I have already done something WAAAAAAAY more awesome.

I dug a hole right next to the intel and hid just one block below it, then I covered the whole and waited.
As soon as that dirty green came and grabbed the intel I EXPLODED out of the grown beneath him and whacked him with my spade.

I bet he shat himself.

Next, I knew he would be coming again, so I buried the intel just 1 block deep and made a hidden tunnel right next to it while waiting with my shotgun. As soon as I heard him digging and grab the intel I blasted away a bock and then blasted away his face.

Just imagine the feeling of relief and safety, think you've outsmarted your foe, only to have him smiling right at you with a shotgun from point-blank range COMPLETELY out of the blue RIGHT when you grab the intel.

It was beautiful.

It took him 2 of his buddies plus himself to finally get me, and even then I still killed him one last time before being taken down.

I like to let the enemy actually grab then intel to lure them into a false sense of security, then put holes in them. Makes their next approach more interesting for them.

I don't see what's stopping me from digging straight down* (Or at least in a ladder pattern to get out quicker), and then digging beneath the intel until I'm right under it. From there I could dig out the blocks beneath it, grab it, and go out my own tunnel.

With you on patrol of the 4 tunnels, I see how you could find my escape tunnel, but if you don't notice me digging at first, then you'll be in a panic when I'm walking out with the intel.

When you know someone is doing it, it's not hard to remove them. It's just knowing when.
However, if there are two people doing it, that's when it gets difficult especially with low respawn times.
At which point, its pretty impossible to take them both on alone.

So really, you need 2 people for this to be effective, at which point it becomes bad for your team to lose 2 men on the battlefield..

Naff I say.

Wrong tactic. I dug under the intel and took it WITHOUT digging the intel from above me.

SIDE VIEW: X = Dirt, O = Intel. E = Enemy. M = Me. 0 = Air.

Why wouldn't the enemies just face perpendicular to each other? Then they could cover of the intel from all directions.

So you're saying that a bug allowed you to cheat? Congrats :P

Even if the bug wasn't there: I could just dig above me, and then take the intel and cover the hole back over. This tactic Isn't efficient. Even if it was at the bottom layer. I already have ways to counter it

You could just dig a bunker around it, with different places, also with tunnels. Grab the colors around your bunker so you'll be camouflaged, and also the interior so that it will be really hard to find it :)

The best intel defending tactics are those you can deploy and then leave to do the defence for you.
Hence why the spider tower is my tactic of choice. I can make it and leave it knowing that with my team-mates respawning around it, it'd be difficult for people to invisibly snatch it.
