How to stop griefers

So for 30 mins I was building a rather large tower around our base.

Then the griefers came and started griefing.

It took so long for me to make my tower and then it was just gone. All that work.

Nothing stopped them, no admins, no votekicking. Nothing.

We need to stop griefers. My only question is how??

1. Teamkilling is turned on within a few seconds of someone destroying a block, so just follow him around and kill him while waiting for my next two methods.
2. Type "/admin Kick *insert name here* for griefing!" This sends a message to any admins on the server, and they'll probably get rid of him.
3. Type "/votekick *players name here* Griefing." Remember to use proper grammar, as people are more likely to listen to someone who sounds older than 3. ("WOW WTRFASIDISABDASIDBAIDBI HE GRIFIG GUYZ KICK HIM NOW")

Since you said that admins and votekick weren't working, join a server with either more admins, more mature players, or people who speak the same language as you so you can get your point across.
