2D Fighting games

Who thinks that 2d fighting are dying.There are only few ones.Street fighter went 3d and its been 3d for years.I liked those old Street fighter III games.But since then there wasnt a single 2d street fighter game.The only 2d fighting game series i know is King of Fighters series.The series had few 3d games but its mostly been 2d.Ive played every KoF game from 98-2003.

The thing is that i want your opinion of 2d Fighing games.Are they better then ther 3d counterparts or worser.

I perfer 2d fighting games

I think he meant fighting games such as Mortal Combat, Old Street Fighters and such.

Yeah sprites are slowly getting phased out, Which is a damn shame because they look better half the time, and can do certain things models cant (also vice versa).

I simply cant imagine what the Nightmare fight from metroid fusion would be like in 3d, probably really weird!

There's also BlazBlue and Guilty Gear.

I don't care much for if it is in 2D or 3D as long as the game is good. Visuals are just a plus. I'm not saying I am a tech genius or anything but my guess would be that 3D fighters are easier to make using one model that they have to animate instead of 2D spriting everything so character frames flow together nicely. Not sure how that works.

Also Grandmaster I think he means fighting games not general 2d games with violence

try MUGEN!!! search it on google. or better yet, search it on Youtube!
it has 2 on 2 fighting. though you need to download characters, screenpacks and maps to see it's full potential.
i think i saw a video on youtube with character list that has 400+ characters on his mugen ranging from ryu to kratos.
megaman x3 sprite and more! you can also make your own character.

Mugen is realy cool coz you can make a battle betveen two or more of your favourite chars that game makers didnt make before.

there are a few good ones for the SNES, like King of Dragons, Ninja Warriors Again, Knights of the Round Table, and probably some more. there is also Little Fighter, I think that one is just freeware or something

Yeah little fighter is freeware.But its more of a beat em up.

I suggest you look up mugen if you like 2D fighting games.
