Evaluation of 0.75

Ben, what was it you said about spectator mode? Something along the lines of that you were fixing it to be less of a spy-drone? Get lost, you didn't, and probably never will. If you need more time; fine. Just don't waste ours coming up with excuses as to why something's not done.

Moving on; Damage tweaks - This is a joke. Everyone has consistently expressed that the weapons are fine as they were, and you've ruined it. I am livid about this, absolutely livid.

Sprinting - Really, why did you do this? If you really wanted to veto autoclimb, just veto autoclimb. This isn't going to make the game more tactical by requiring roads, because at the end of the day it's still just a bunch of COD morons running and gunning through the map. Good idea, terribly implemented, and I hate it.

Master server - Looks terrible. Make it a grid so that everything is laid out evenly. Just an aesthetic issue, but that brings me to another point;

90% OF THE UPDATES WERE AESTHETIC
. Bullet casings? New muzzle flash colour? Bullet sounds have changed to this high pitched whine? And then you changed the respawn message (and those little "beeps") to be (correct me on this if I'm wrong) "less annoying"? 3 retro-sounding beeps were not annoying. THIS IS. Honestly, I liked the graphics how they were. This just adds more to look at and get used to, and the thing I want to stress most here is that the changes were COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. They serve no purpose in gameplay, and in my opinion, look really terrible.

Wave respawning
- die in a fire, and that's all I'm saying about it.

The new log in window (where you choose your team) has half the scoreboard blocked off, so I can't see who's on which team. This annoys the hell out of me, again, because 90% of the improvements were supposed to make the game look visually appealing.

Spade melee damage reduced - Sure, you add sprint and it seems like a good idea, but oh no, now charging like the Chinese in Korea seems like a viable strategy, doesn't it? Well, better patch up that patch with another patch.

Click and drag and modified block damage
- I actually tried out click and drag and it's nowhere near as fast as I thought it would be. It's still a horrible feature that needs to be removed, but it in no way necessitated reducing SMG block damage and increasing rifle and spade damage. This makes the SMG totally useless, the Rifle way overpowered, and the spade an even faster choice for griefers. For the love of God, if you need to fix a feature you implemented with another feature, the first feature was not produced correctly.

Your turn; what do you think of .75?

Maybe when you're paying him that might sound a little less stupid. Even if you were, this is still one of the silliest things I've heard.

As a person who's played one of the earlier RCs, I can confirm spectator mode is a lot better. It used to just be free-roam upon death, so one could easily just spy on the other team. And I lol'd at "wasting our time", as if he's under any obligation to us at all.

That's a shame.

What's so terrible about this? I don't see the problem. You sacrifice auto-climb for a speed boost.

I agree on this, the layout needs to be fixed.

It's a shame you can't do anything about it, like get new auto files to replace those beeps and bullet sounds, or get new .kv6 files to replace those tracers. Too bad everything in this game is hard-coded in.

Tai wrote:Wave respawning - die in a fire, and that's all I'm saying about it.

How has IGN not hired you yet to do professional reviews yet?

Tai wrote:The new log in window (where you choose your team) has half the scoreboard blocked off, so I can't see who's on which team. This annoys the hell out of me, again, because 90% of the improvements were supposed to make the game look visually appealing.

Yeah, that definitely needs to be fixed.

Tai wrote:Spade melee damage reduced - Sure, you add sprint and it seems like a good idea, but oh no, now charging like the Chinese in Korea seems like a viable strategy, doesn't it? Well, better patch up that patch with another patch.

I like that actually, it at least gives me a chance to try and retaliate when someone starts spading me.

You realize no-one's forcing you to use click-and-drag, right? It didn't replace regular block-placing, it's just another option. And honestly, I like the spade increase. Everyone can give the old "it help greefurz" line, but it's not like only griefers use the spade.

Either way, it's been out for one day. Just give it some time. I hated click-and-drag at first, but then I started liking it.

My only critiques right now are tracking other players on slopes feels noticably more difficult with the current netcode, and click+drag needs less buggy behavior. There are some other technical issues that I am addressing personally(most of them should have been taken care of today).

The gameplay things I don't know about yet. Ben likes to do a massive rebalance with every update, which is fine by me since it helps us explore the possibilities of what does and doesn't work for this game. I rage at the changes too, sometimes, but in the end the strong feelings aren't a helpful metric of whether the design works; they just mean that I'm too close to the game and too quick to exclude ideas.

@OP

I find several interesting things about your post.

1) you failed to use the given sticky, and instead chose to grace us by spamming yet another, .75 related thread.

2) At no point in your rambling, insulting, and frankly disrespectful discourse. Did I rarely find anything rational.

Tai wrote:Ben, what was it you said about spectator mode? Something along the lines of that you were fixing it to be less of a spy-drone? Get lost, you didn't, and probably never will. If you need more time; fine. Just don't waste ours coming up with excuses as to why something's not done.

Firstly, to address your above manor of addressing the Dev of this game that YOU play; He is under NO obligation to you, or me, or anyone in this community. This is something he works incredibly hard on, and something which you CHOOSE to play.

Tai wrote:Moving on; Damage tweaks - This is a joke. Everyone has consistently expressed that the weapons are fine as they were, and you've ruined it. I am livid about this, absolutely livid.

^ The above statement is a narrow-minded lie. People complain about weapon balance ALL the time, and you know why? because as new features are implemented into the game, the weapons require re-balancing.

Tai wrote:Sprinting - Really, why did you do this? If you really wanted to veto autoclimb, just veto autoclimb. ^ One more I must re-literate, your blatant hostility, bias remarks. And general lack of conmen sense, make it very hard for me to take you seriously. HOWEVER, I will try.

- Sprinting is not in place to veto auto climb

- Not being being able to auto climb whilst sprinting is COUNTER BALANCE

- Sprinting was implemented well, it works, has no bugs to my knowledge

- Sprinting DOES bring back the use of long straight tunnelling < I saw that last night more then ever

Master server - Looks terrible. Make it a grid so that everything is laid out evenly. Just an aesthetic issue, but that brings me to another point;

^ This is the only sensible thing you have said, in your entire post.

90% of the updates were aesthetic, oh you mean like auto climb? the shot gun / smg, weapon re-balances? Id say around half of the updates are more geared towards presentation.

"COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY" If we only ever did what was completely necessary, this game would not have advanced past beta .26

Your obvious attempts to sound funny, are becoming rather dry.

I like sprinting, and I have built and dug flat areas to move faster.
As for the weapon changes: he'll probably change it again in two months and everyone will complain that they were perfect as they are now.

Everything else you said: just die in a fire

What a retard. When you're paying for the game, you can tell the developer to die in a fire over features you don't like. But until then

I'm frustrated at the whine sound,it just makes me unfocused.
That and lag is the only thing I want to be fixed.
Wait now when I think about it it's only the lag i'm frustrated about, because you can just CHANGE the whine to nothing through simple sound editing.
If you do not look behind yourself, I will secretly steal your cheese.

Eh' I agree with all the everynoodlethang you sez, but lemme tell you Taylor Swift, but wave red awning will be one of the most important game mechanics of all time! All time! Cuz dat wave respawn system will allow ease of capturing flags, without people shoving their extension poles up my butt cheeks, and ye know, nobody likes candyshoopdewhoop of whiteness up the buttcheeks you know...

Congratz, you have effectively wasted my time. Rueben and DE did a good job of responding to your temper tantrum point for point, so I am not going to do it. Just wanted to say this: ben does listen to the community, I go out of my way to make sure that happens, the community is larger than you, you dont have to play this game, the game will never be tailored to your unrealistic demands, and If people have well thought out constructive messages I share them with ben.

Tai, you need to visit specsavers.

Rifle doesn't really overpower SMG, infact it's probably level now, almost exactly, depending on what kind of player you are of course as well. I find it easier to use SMG now for some reason? (I think the new sounds are less disturbing and let you focus better), I also noticed the Rifle has been nerfed, but I, as a rifleman think this is amazing, it makes it more challenging. It was almost boring as it was before.

Sure the sprinting is weird, so is the spectating, and that is because it's something completely new added to the game. I've seen all this weird stuff been added like Shotguns and SMG's and autoclimb and removal of the poor Pickaxe and so on, but I've not moaned, as it just takes time to get used to.
