Fools, the best war game ever is:
Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Well, with mods it is :P (XL battles are AWESOME).

It can be a fun game, but it's definitely nothing I take seriously. When you feel like some mindless, relaxing faceblasting that requires almost no thought, CoD is perfect. For the most part though, almost any shooter has more depth and metagame. I certainly wouldn't call it good gameplay, but it has its place.

On another note, I also have a bit of respect for it for being one of the few games these days that still pushes for a full 60 fps on consoles. I honestly think that's a major contributing factor as to what made it catch on so hard. It just feels smoother and nicer than any other recent console game, because most choose to push for graphics over framerate.

But in general, I think it's an incredibly milked series and it's disgusting how almost the same game on the same engine gets rereleased for $60 again every year. It's also sad to see the gameplay turning into more and more of a mindless run and gun party with every gun streamlined to be usable at any range, I feel like back when I was playing CoD 2 and 4 it had at least a little more depth than it does now.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the fanbase.

An actual opinion (sorry lol):
It's an ok game... not my cup of tea though.

I also have BFBC2, and I really love this game, but for some reason I found the BF3 beta not too fun, and it didn't really feel as nice as BFBC2. it does look like a pretty improved version of it, but something just did not feel right. I also do not like that it's not really the full thing on the consoles as it is on PC, and my PC is not very powerful. I might buy it sometime later, but it doesn't seem like I would enjoy it very much

-_- *sigh* People say that ALL the time on YouTube. You can't judge a game by its beta. Trust me, it's better than it was before(one time, my KH2002 obstructed iron sights was removed by some bug for a whole game, letting me get the scope for it :D).

It's gotten a little better in terms of removing a couple xxXprodanksterXxx42042042042042 things but it still added a few back.

the WW II games where some of the best in its niche, along with Medal of Honour, but when MW 1 appeared suddenly everyone became experts on firearms and seemed to get some thrill from quoting the names and stats in general conversation, for example me n' the boys are talking about clay pigeon shooting, and this either second or third year came up to us and started bragging about how he has used the likes of a Mossberg, a striker, Spaz 12 etc even when they are illegal over here in the UK.......

I guess you are kind of right, but the game came out not too long after, I sort of doubt the overall feel of the game changed too drastically, since the only real problems were the lag and falling through the map(it seemed like lag was worse on PC, but it didn't have problems with the map) I'll give it a try sometime, I'm sure it's a pretty fun game

I agree with Yakkers about it, I just play it to have a fun time really, it's not the best game I play, but it's fun. I think one of the biggest problems is that people take it too seriously, even without the dual wield, riot shield, throwing knife, and all of the other really dumb things it would be pretty easy to not take it seriously.

Haha yes, Call of Duty does that to people. I've had my friends discuss which firearms they'd want to have for an irl zombie apocalypse based on how accurate or powerful they are in Call of Duty (e.g. "naw I'd rather have a ___, it's more accurate"). Needless to say my face was in my hand for the whole conversation.

I believe Call Of Duty will experience the same downfall like Guitar Hero (another of Activisions cash cows, now deceased)
Because YOU WILL RUN OUT OF IDEAS SOONER OR LATER
and then EA will get blamed upon for making a dozen shooters again once CoD is dead

My deuce, BFBC2 (and Vietnam) were supreme. Fucking jewish EA and their online passes. Had to use the trial pass on BF3 and it still sucked. CoD sucks too. Hopefully Bioshock Infinite is good so I'll at least 2012 will have hope in terms of shooters.
