If you want to be the guy who shoots first, shoot first, don't throw a grenade... actually, in hindsight, it's a very bad idea for the purposes of speed, because you have to take cover to avoid getting killed by your own grenade.
I hear you on the digging straight down stuff, I usually get killed. Better solution is to look for an airstrike crater and try to dig down on one of the corners there.
Well, that's kind of true but you can also make a wall in front of you and walk freely behind it without them really knowing where you are. So let's say I make a wall in front of me, then I dig a hole down behind it and pop out from another place.
They don't know where I am for the first 3-5 seconds and that's more than enough to take down 1-2 guys.
Then you could just as well go back behind the wall and pop out another place to take out the rest if needed.
