For all things AoS!

danhezee wrote:The time has come for user registration. The idea is to create a system so you will only need one login for the forums and ign.

Pros:
Less confusion in game. It will be harder for people to pose as trusted members of the community in game.
Ban evasion would be more difficult.
Open the door for achievements and stats.

Cons:
New players would have to register before they can join a server.

Yes this is awesome...more people would participate in aos forums i was talking to people yesterday asking if forums was down for them and like the whole server ddnt even know there was forums

I believe if you buy it you should be unbanned.

Some people may have hacked in the past but have changed their ways and want to play AoS again. Well they can have another chance, if they pay up. I doubt any hackers would pay $10 to be banned.

1. Why should AoS cost money?
2. That's bribery.
3. I know of many P2P players that pay $5-$10 a month just to troll other players, though I don't know them personally.

If we have a registration system, I have a few suggestions.
-Everyone gets an ID number. This ID number is locked with your username.
-You may change your username at any time so long as it does not replicate another username.
-Admins should look through usernames from time to time to prevent impersonators.
-(Maybe?) Only people with decent rep can ding the reps of others via banning. To be specific, a server admin with a rep of -5 cannot lower the rep of someone with a rep of 0 or -1 by banning them.
-Server bans require a "reason" line, as in "NoobPlayer was banned for [Being a dick].", where the text in brackets is the reason. Therefore, admins administer rep changes as per the reasons they were banned.
-The amount of rep lost depends on either the collective reps of the entire server or the overall IRL reputation of the server (i.e. if it's a server that came out of nowhere and seems to be nothing but a griefing area then the rep of the banned player would only be reduced by 0.1, whereas a famous server with fair admins will influence rep more significantly).
-A griefer-reporting system in conjunction with a demo recording system?

Sounds good.
But will you be able to login with your pre-existing forum account and use that name ingame?

I'm not sure if anyone said this yet, but people should still be able to change their names freely as long as that name isn't already registered. That way, nobody could impersonate anyone that already has an account.

I would absolutely love registration, although clan changes present a problem. You could possibly register with one name, but be able to change your nickname like the old forums.

Also, 10,000th post in this forum.

Jeez, it's an indie FPS where you shoot people with guns made out of LEGOs. Don't overthink it.

Paratrooper wrote:In my opinion, Registrations should be an option. A user that does not register will enter the game as a guest (traditionally I would call them Deuce#). Registrations would hopefully increase the number of people who attend the forums. By registering, you also get to make an ign, which you could change later. One may not chose an ign which is already a forum name or is already being used by someone else.

This.

I think there's a need for a link from the game launcher (IE where you pick teams) to the forums (and preferably to the wiki so we don't have so many noobs...)

Another idea would be priority; those who register get to kick off those who are not registered. When the person is kicked off, they are led to the registration page. (though this certainly would run the risk of ragequitting).

Could we also expect something like a buddy list to emerge?

How about you get a name change every week or two? I doubt anyone would want to waste it on something like that.

Quick Idea:
Maybe you should be able to change your name in game...BUT when you try to take someone elses user name the screen should do something like this
