So I feel the need to write this topic up, having just dealt with a good 15 or so aimbotters this morning on Minit. Here's what to do and what not to do when there's a griefer or hacker on the server you're on.
DON'T just say "griefer' or "hacker": If all you do is say "AIMBOT", "STOP GRIEFING", or "HACKER", it helps nobody. If I'm watching a server from an IRC channel, I can't just tell who's hacking or griefing by what you say. Sometimes even in-game it's hard to tell, unless their name is dominating the kill feed completely or they're griefing right next to me. So please, take care to elaborate.
DON'T just say "Deuce9001 hacker" or "SnajperPL grief": This might be a bit of help, and it's an improvement, but that'll just alert the person in question that people can tell what they're doing, which'll cause him to either stop doing what they're doing, to avoid being caught and banned. I've gone in-game many times to see the accused cheater or griefer acting perfectly normal following being accused in global chat. This is, however, a good option if you're on a server with no admins.
DO start a votekick: Everyone seems to forget this exists. If you start a votekick on someone, it'll more than likely pass, depending on how obvious the guy is while hacking or how much he's griefing. Let's not forget the usual people that just do /y because they got killed or because the guy is on another team, they can work to your advantage in this.
DO use /admin": This is another one barely anyone uses. Doing "/admin <message>" will send a message to anybody on the server's IRC channel and everyone in-game logged in as an admin. This way, the admin knows who to look out for without they themselves knowing that they're being watched.
Thanks, and I hoped you all will heed my words and use my advice.
