How to play on a mac

I downloaded the mac version but if I click the AoS icon on my desktop it gives an error that I can't connect. If I click an icon on the 'Play' tab on the website it can't connect because safari doesn't recognize adresses starting with aos:

i firstly would try another browser...
like mozilla firefox...

I already did that right after it but this doesn't change a thing. Any more suggestions?
